You know what, us ladies with breast cancer are such a great resource for each other! Picture the scene, there we are in a carpet shop on Sat afternoon, me and the OH, who I should remind you is an Oncologist. I know the two sisters who run the shop really well. They said oh, its great you are here cos the lass who works for us who has recently finished her treatment is in today - so she gets called down to the shop floor - where the four of us stand for half an hour discussing treatments etc, demonstrating on our bodies where we had what, and what still hurts etc!! . So then I get on the floor and demonstrate the exercises I think might help the other lass, then my OH gets all enraged cos some people from her department haven’t followed up properly and they should have…so she is going to kick ass…and we got a great carpet too -
I had had such a tricky time before this with insensitive comments from friends, but this restored my faith, and I know my fellow BC travellers that we are there for each other. thank you lasses, Nicola
