On this forum there is a section for ‘Younger Women’…under 45
There is also a thread for ‘Post menopausal older women’

What happens to us lost in the middle?
I am just 50 but have an 8 year old son in addition to a teen and older kids, am not menopausal (might be at the end of all this chemo!!) and regard myself as a younger person…even my bluddy tumour and bc senario is regarded by surgeon and onc as a’younger persons cancer because she is not yet menopausal’
Sooooooo
I feel i cannot post with the younger women but cannot post with the older ones…seems there is a sort of black hole in the middle!
You’re not on your own with this view, indeed had been thinking much the same myself. I feel like a bit of an outsider if I post on the Younger Women topics but I’m definitely not a Post-menopausal older woman either. I’m 51 now, was 50 when diagnosed earlier this year and wasn’t menopausal until they zapped me with Zoladex and Tamoxifen, so I guess that makes me an Inbetweener like you.
Even our treatment seems to be complicated by the fact that we’re “inbetween”!

Hallelujah…or something like that…I am not alone!!!
You are right Sarah we are complicated! Onc was scratching her head and consulting all sorts of papers etc when trying to figure out my treatment as she was not sure exactly where I belonged!!!
Me too please (hand up and jumping up and down)
I wanted to go on the Younger Womans thingy (meet up) but it said it was for under 45’s and I was told by the moderator in no uncertain terms that at 47 I was too old unless I had been diagnosed in last 3 years.
I was hitting the menopause before bc struck, but I have a very complex relationship with my hormones and have done ever since so called puberty (some of bits of which my body failed to conform to the norm). I was due to have a hysterectomy before all this struck, but an upside of the treatment is that’ll it save me from that joy!
I am 47, going on 27 and certainly class myself as a younger woman, if not not chronologically, certainly mentally!
Hi LostinFrance
Yep, with you there! The onc seemed unsure whether to half kill me with chemo because I’m not post-menopausal and therefore a “younger woman” or treat me gently with the respect due an older woman.
And Hi SM422
Also with you - I was definitely getting menopausal type symptoms a year or so before the BC was dx’d. That was why I was taking HRT, then turned out to have a strongly hormonal BC, so had probably been feeding the little BC bugger just what it wanted!
Actually just thinking…does it mean that I am in fact a younger woman when dx at 44?? I just kind of crept in I suppose…erm…where do I belong? Would like to stay here with you ladies please…can I? I have chocolate…
I was given progesterone tabs at start of year to try to regulate periods - guess what path results show progesterone receptive 7/8! I am wondering if taking that triggered it, specially as hormone history complicated…
Hi SM422
In addition to the HRT I had a Mirena coil which I thought was totally fantastic, but it released progesterone and since I was also PR+ was told it had to come out - boo hoo!
By the way I have to say that you jumping up and down with your hand in the air conjured up a totally undignified picture for our sort of age group
Sarah x
Oh Sheana - don’t drop the Quality Street, you’re excused from jumping up and down on this occasion!
Sarah - that’s my point - I am undignified for a “lady of my age” and proud of it They offered me the Mirena coil for the hormone benefit, but I refused as I had already had my tubes tied… It’s also interesting that considering part of my hormone probs was due to a lack of natural oestrogen that my path results for that were 7/8 too! The medical profession have totally failed me on hormone related problems since I was a teenager…but the more I think about it, my bcis probably related!
