Incapacity medical - a rant!

Ok i have dug out my answers to all the daft questions they ask you I lost points for the following

  1. Not having a drink in the morning
2)not having a mental health problem(only a life threatening disease)
3)being able to pick up a 2p piece
    4)speaking
    5)standin up and sitting down
    6)i was cosscious
    7)i can answer the phone
  2. i watch the news and comedy on tv
9)i can work my cooker ( iam a chef after all)
  3. I take pride in my appearance and do the house work some times

Ladies if you are going to a medical think about you answers very carefully you may lose points for preserving a little of your dignity

i had to claim incap as i was paid full pay for 6 months then 6 months half pay… then i was told i had to claim incap to get my half pay, what a mockery. i filled in the form and sent it in only to get a call asking where i had got the form from as they now do it over the phone .had to do it all over again 2 days later. oh yes i cried, told them they did not realise what i was going through,
i got it and only had it for 3 months as i went back on a phased return, 1 of my work places was very kind and put me on full pay even though i was not doing the full hours, the other place was not so kind, but there you go.

Hi folks

Thought I would add my tuppenceworth into this argument. I was DX with BC 3 years ago and 8 months after, my husband and I decided to separate. I was left to run the gauntlet for ICB and income support on my own for the first time since I left school. Was initially on Income Support then put on ICB and 6 months later was asked to go in for a medical. The gentleman (using the term loosly) treated me as if I was a scrounger and because I suffer from severe clinical depression, was made to feel like a complete nutcase! This went on until February this year, when, yet again I got a call to go for a medical. Then 2 days before I was due to go for a medical, they called again, informing me that I didn’t need to go in after all as my GP had sent them a letter, telling them I was no longer fit enough to go for these medicals. I had already filled in the forms with ream loads of paper to inform DWP of everything that is wrong with me (other than cancer) and felt that I was put through a lot of grief for claiming was should be rightfully mine. I did not ask to get this disease and everything else that has went wrong since. These people should show some consideration to people like us, who are only claiming these benefits in the shortfall, or in my case, the long-term.

I hope you all manage to resolve your claims soon and anyone who is having a medical, then good luck with it.

Best wishes always

I waited about 6 weeks after I had my medical before I was told whether I was getting my ICB extended. If any of you have other questions, I would be only too happy to try and answer them for you. Its ridiculous that, as cancer patients, we have to go cap and foot to the DWP to claim benefits just because we are ill. Then they have to degrade us further by putting us through a medical? I was told before I went for my first medical that all they seem to care is to whether you are suffering depression or not. Well I believe that most cancer sufferers will develop some form of depression and if this is the case they should give us the benefits for which we are entitled.

Good luck everyone.

Love

Hi all,

I think its really disgusting and appalling what we have to go through to get what we are entitled to from the Government. I myself am on IB had to have interview at Jobcentre and take Med4 form to the GP. All this during treatment the first time I went to the Jobcentre I was going to cancel as I didn’t feel well at all but thought I should go when I got there exhausted she wasn’t even there to see me and some other lady said we tried to call you to cancel the appointment. This was a lie as I had been in all day in bed I was furious. Ended up with another appointment 1 week later and she was trying to find me a job, I already have a job that is being kept open for me, what a complete fast the system is. I think its appalling the way we all have been treated and continue to be treated and wonder if there is something that can be done about this or is this site aware of these problems and is there anything we can do?
