Hi, I’m new to all this but I’m going out of my mind with worry. I found a lump in my rt breast about a year ago. I went to gp in march who said it would dissipate on it’s own because it was just breast tissue. On Monday I went to gp again as it’s still there and ?feels a little bigger and is easier to find. Referred to breast clinic, went on Wednesday. Nurse consultant could feel it but didn’t seem overly concerned, said it’s about 2cm. Had USS and lump couldn’t be seen on there at all. Had FNA and results were inconclusive, just fat cells and connective tissue seen. Nurse seemed very positive about this, although the results didn’t actually tell her anything! They want me to go back for a checkup at some point, but I’m very confused. Could they have missed something?
Hi Kippercat,
Please dont be so worried i know it is hard not to.as i have been in same situation as you, it seem to take forever this waiting game.
lumps can also be benign fatty lumps even cysts.
all these investigations take its time.
some biopsy results take longer to investigate, not always bad news
there is a lot of different changes our breast go through.
The only advise i can give please only read threads that only apply to you at this moment in time. as you can scare yourself silly yep i also done that hence reason i am mentioning it.
I wish you well if you need any answers the best place is on threads
also help line on here BCN nurses are very helpful.
Take care Pat xx
Thanks for your comment Pat. I’m trying my hardest not to worry or use google! They said it’s not a cyst, as that would have definitely shown up on the USS. The nurse asked me a couple of times if I had banged my breast or had an injury to it, which I haven’t.
She said it didn’t feel like anything sinister, but I would be a lot happier with a negative biopsy result. I just want to know what it is for certain, but don’t know how to go about achieving that. I don’t know how long it’ll be til my follow up appointment, they said they’ll send me a letter. Suppose I’ll just have to wait until then.
Also, I had the biopsy on Wednesday and I’m still sore, was only expecting it to hurt for one day after.
