I am 42 and after being diagnosed with Grade 2 breast canbcer and 2 recent operations - 1 x lumpectomy and 1 x removal of lymph nodes have been strongly recommended to have Chemo, Radiotherapy and Tamoxifen. 1st Chemo due to start on the 16th June 2011.
Though I have 2 children (9 & 13) I am really struggling at the thought of going forward with treatment as I do not want to loose my fertility or start an early menopause.
I feel pressure from my husband and my head knows it is logical but my good old emotional heart just can’t get to grips with this side of the treatment.
I spoke with my Oncologist who is quite factual about why ‘its necessary’ reducing the chances of cancer returning from 36% to 14% and tells me because my cancer is Estrogen strong they would want me to start and early menopause.
I always wanted another child (hubby did not).
Has anyone else had the same dilema and what did you decide to do ?
