Informing of results?
Informing of results? I heard back from my consultants secretary yestrday that the path lab has my results- but shewouldnt tell me anything. She told me that I would infact have to have it removed and that she could not advise me of the lumps status until it was removed. (DEspite the core biopsy).
Is this usual for them to do or is she just covering her arse as the consultant is on leave?
I have to see him early september and then have an extraction (subject to prior meeting) at teh end of september…
Is all this normal? I was hoping for them to be a little more “lickety-split” about the whole thing…

results If you are at mt Alvernia , the secretary in question never gives full results., as the consultant prefers to see you himself, but he doesnt seem to understand what it is like to wait for results. So much of your story sounds familiar, as I am treated there .I am on the other site under the same name and you can leave a message there to contact if you wish.

Hi Jakey
Yes, I am at Mt Alvernia - ha ha - perhaps I may see you there!
Looking at your profile, you’ve realy been through them mill already!
I will address this “no infomation exchange” with the consultant (and his wife!) when I see them - as its just plain rude!
I would rather be told “the reults arent back” than, “yes dear, but you’ll have to wait 2 weeks”
Perhaps its my fault forbeing keen and calling them?
It was the same when i was told my baby would be a still born - 5 weeks before he was due… hmmmmm, sugar coat it why donchya?!
Either way, I am utterly convinced that those who work in “ladies” clinics and hospitals should have some first hand experience of the emotions that go with the territory…
Sorry - rant over!

If these are suspect phyllodes and you had a core biopsy (ie a small chunk of the tumour is removed through a needle)then it is quite usual for them not to show up. Phyllodes are normally only diagnosed once they have been removed although they are usually suspected if you have an FNA (fine needle biopsy, ie where a blood sample is removed from the tumour area) that comes back as abnormal cells
It is extremely annoying but there is no other way of being able to tell exactly what you’re dealing with when it comes to phyllodes - you have to take them out for a proper diagnosis. Please drop me a private message on that other forum I told you about - I can give you a lot more information in private about phyllodes than I can on here…
