Mine is really a technical query…clearly showing limitiation of private insurance.
my insurance company is saying they will only fund three months of Zometa for my bones. I wont name it except to say its one of the big two. My company chose a very “good” policy so i am pretty suprised by this.
Is this a common thing- if anyone else has had any experience of this I would be grateful to hear from them.
I think all the bog standard insurance policies start to creak when we continue to need treatment. I keep expecting my insurance company to give up on me…I find it quite stressful having to check each bit of tretament. I am with AXA PPP and they are pretty mean. (They told me they might not fund a year of xeloda…have come off it now as it didn’t work and they are just about saying OK to carboplatin and gemzar).
I don’t really agree with private health insurance but took it out on a whim a few months before diagnosis when offered by the University I had just got a job at. I often think it would be simpler on the NHS, but must say I like having my chemo in a little priavte hopsital where I never have to wait. Also the NHS Trust I now live in is mean about G-CSF which my private insurance will fund so I’m rather glad I have got it.
Hope there’s an appeal system you can use Catherine and get the treatment you need.
I am with PPP and I am pretty shocked at how quicly my policy has started to creak, I am hoping this has been a mistake…before I sent my letter I just wanted to reach out and check with others.
Jane I know what you mean about having to check each treatment. Its very stressful…I dont know if I will stay private. I have always had the opinion it offers no medical advantages, but what does happen is things happen quickly. Although having said no medical advantages I did have the G -CSF as well…
