Introductal Papilloma

Introductal Papilloma

Introductal Papilloma I am just coming to terms with the fact that I have got to go through more surgery in the next couple of weeks, I first went to my GP in August and was referred to the Breast Clinic with nipple discharge from my left breast, they did a mammogram, ultrasound and a needle biopsy, I returned to the consultant on Wednesday and was told that I had four small lumps in my left breast and was told that they thought that they were a introductal papilloma and would need to be removed because although they were not showing as cancerous they are still tumors and will continue to grow. But after reading the treatment for this condition and also the treatment for DCIS I asked the doctor what was the chances that I have the other condition, she could not confirm and I had a MRI this was also inconclusive and she said that she still could not confirm or deny if the lumps were benign or malignant until they were removed. I have been booked in for the 23rd of this month and am scared to death of what might be. I have already had a hysterectomy at 36 years and now might have to lose some of my breast, not knowing whether it will lead to more treatment. Does anyone out there know more or have been through the same.

Hi bizzylizzy68,

Poor you having to cope with an hysterectomy and now this!

I’m replying to your post because nobody else has though I haven’t got much information for you but I’ve got lots of support! I had a blood-stained nipple discharge and suspected papilloma and found that I got more response and support on the ‘Have I got breast cancer?’ site so I suggest you try posting there. In the meantime, know that you are being listened to and you are welcome to anything I can do to help…

It turned out that I didn’t have a papilloma, my nipple-discharge is apparently due to duct ectasia though I am still waiting for another clinic appointment as my discharge still continues after the microductectomy was done.

From what I was able to gather, papillomas are benign - though more than one might pose more risks? In any case any problems with the breast always raises anxiety levels and you need to know one way or the other. The powers that be just don’t seem to understand how worrying the wait can be. Is your appointment on the 23rd an appointment for further consultation or for the actual removal of the papillomas?

Either way, I’ll be thinking of you and rooting for you. Best of luck, Love from P.
