Invasive Lobular breast cancer

Hi about 4 weeks ago I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer. When we came back from my holiday I had an mri scan which showed that the ca was 6cm and not the 2.8cm they originally thought. I was told this on Thursday and it is thought I will probably have a mastectomy and radiotherapy.

Yesterday I had further biopsies and a marker inserted into the cancerous breast and I had a mammogram. I will be having a ct scan next week too. However my question is can I still have a ct scan if I have just started my period? I am due on next week and I am 46 years old and definitely not pregnant. The letter says to phone the department if still bleeding on the morning of the scan? I am feeling very stressed about it as don’t want anymore delays. The investigations have gone on for ever. I was referred by my Gp at the end of May. It’s now over 62 days and still no treatment

Hi Sunflower, sorry you find yourself here.  I was 48 at diagnosis, stage 3 and still here and doing well after chemo, radiotherapy and surgery.  You may be better to repost your question about periods and scans in the nurses section for specialist advice

Once your plan is in place you can chat with others on the same treatment in the “going through treatment” threads on this forum.  Hope all goes well with your treatment.
