Is anyone here a runner?

Hi all. I was just wondering if anyone here runs? It sounds ridiculous given all the other **bleep** I may be about to face - but when I was in the middle of my biopsy this week one of my thoughts was how annoyed I am that I’m probably not going to get the PB I was hoping for at the Cardiff Half Marathon on 1st October!!! However I do know that women manage to run through treatment and beyond as a way of coping. It would be nice to share this journey with someone who has done this or doing this? Thanks
Mandy

Yes, I’m a runner. Was meant to do the Oxford Half on Oct 8th but I had a lumpectomy two days ago, so it’s going to make a big dent in my training plan. I am due to do the Reading Half in March and spookily, I have already entered the London Moonwalk (in aid of breast cancer charities) before I got my diagnosis. Trying to keep the fitness up with walking at the moment instead.

Hi Rosietd.
Hope your op went well. I’ve just come away for a few days - be good to catch up when I’m back. Hope your recovery continues well
Thank you xxx

Hi there are quite a few ladies further down the line with their treatment who are runners ,I think there might even be a thread about it if you search .

Hi there, I’m a fellow runner  I’m 8 months on from diagnosis and 5 months since my treatment finished. I had a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and take Tamoxifen. Getting there on the fitness front and back to being able to run 10k distance, hoping to get back to my pre bc distance of a half marathon at some point!

There’s a thread in the coffee lounge section under Hope and Inspiration, ‘running on treatment’, there are a few of us there.

Wishing you all the best for your treatment.x

Thank you. It’s good to know that normal life (including running) resumes as normal as possible. Have you found it has helped psychologically with your recovery too?
