Is CA153 blood test standard with chemo?

Hi, I’ve just had my pre assessment chemo appointment and was surprised to see CA 153 on the blood test. I’m having chemo as a preventative HOPEFULLY! I thought the CA153 test was a tumour marker used for metastasis. Have others had this blood test as standard? It’s thrown me into a bit of a panic. Love Tracy XXX

Every time I had pre chemo bloods, my CA153 was checked and my chemo was preventative as well. I think it’s routine where we are having our treatment. Good luck for Friday

Hi Tracy, can’t advise about CA153 but my blood test tomorrow (prior to 1st chemo) is full blood count, kidney & liver function and bone profile.

I know it’s easy for me to say but try not to panic it won’t help you at all. Just try & speak to your chemo nurse ASAP. Hope it’s just routine x
