Is taking a break from Letrozole sensible?

Hi,
I have been on Ribociclib and Letrozole for just over 2 years and so far have remained stable - I have secondaries in my lungs and lymph nodes. Although I have tolerated both drugs well I definitely have all the joint pain that comes along with the Letrozole especially in my wrists. I can put up with this but just wondered if a break from the drug is possible with SBC or if it would be better not to rock the boat! I have an appointment with my oncologist next week but thought I would just ask.
Thank you nurses.

Hi michellem55,

Thank you for posting. It sounds like you are having a difficult time with joint pain, which is a common side effect of letrozole.

It is important to talk to your treatment team about the pain you are experiencing so that they can support you with managing it. Sometimes your treatment team will suggest switching to a different type of hormone therapy to see if your symptoms improve. Some people find that switching to another brand of letrozole can also improve their side effects. A short break in treatment may also sometimes be advised, and your team will be able to discuss the risks and benefits of this in your situation.

Your treatment team can also talk to you about strategies to help manage your joint pain such as pain relief, exercise and complementary therapies like acupuncture.
