Is there a blood test I can have regularly?
Is there a blood test I can have regularly? Hi everyone
I have read on here occasionally about blood tests some people have after the chemo etc, I believe it is to check for early signs of it coming back. If anyone has any info that would be great. I find that I am constantly wondering is it back and would find a regular check like this helpful to put my every worrying mind at ease.

you could be tested for CA 15.3 and CEA, two tumour markers, but the doctors have to know whether your tumour expressed them in the first place. I was negative for these two markers even when I had a recurrence, because not all the cancers produce them and because of other reasons. Despite that, now I get checked regularly, my oncologist thinks it is better to check them anyway.
These markers can vary also for situations not related to the cancer, such as inflammations, and this is why it is important to associate these tests with regular scans, X-rays etc.
I would love to have a better recipe to put our minds at ease!
