Hi, I had sentinel node biopsy 27th July. Only one node removed (was positive so full clearance when I get Mx).
All was fine and no pain, but the other weekend I went on a long bike ride, around 30/40 miles and noticed that night under my arm, the kind of feeling that folk describe cording as, a thin band under skin or maybe like a very soft thin bone/ligament. It’s very short, only in my armpit, wouldn’t say it’s sore, a wee twinge here and there or a very slight ache when I’ve been doing a lot.
Is this cording? I can stretch my arm fine and move it about all different ways, and I do so, as opposed to sticking to the exercises which I did the first two weeks. I do the stretching up the wall every so often, but as there is no tightness to get rid of, I feel I don’t need to do them. Should I be doing them to get did of this?
Not really sure if it’s cording and what to do about it if it is as it’s not painful and its small.
Mx in a couple of weeks.
I suggest is,is to get your little post op exercise booklet out,and go back to doing the exercises they suggest. They are designed to help us.
massage the area, and just go careful, you may have over done it on the bike. That was quite an undertaking so soon after surgery.
Cordng usually goes down the arm…HOWEVER…do see you BCN and ask her advice.
I have had,and still have some soreness under my arm,but swimming and Pilates helps.
you say you stretch your arm up the all very so often, maybe return to doing it daily,or what ever the booklet suggests.?
Thanks Jillybee. When I say I stretch it every so often, this is daily, lots just with general normal use, been painting also(!!)It was only one node removed so a pretty small op, I will return to the booklet, there is no massaging in it though? Although I did massage scar slightly with savlon at beginning. Now I have scar gel.
I will mention to bcn but it isn’t bothersome I was just concerned it could get worse if I left it.
