Is this normal?

Is this normal? I had my recon four weeks ago. Ive just noticed that I’ve got a lump on my back just below the donor site and I was wondering if that was normal. There is a kind of ripple around it when I move around or if it is pressed in, a bit like a jelly wobble. Did any one else have this and is it permanent.

Thanks
Sharon

wobbly jelly I’ve read about a few women who had a seroma (fluid under the scar) when they had the muscle taken from their back. When tissue is removed the body tends to react by creating fluid to fill the space. This can be drained but it tends to come back. So some surgeons try and leave it unless it becomes very uncomfortable it should go by itself in time

Hi Sharon

I am surprised that the bcn or hospital didnt tell you about this, yes it sounds like a seroma, one of the drains would have been draining out the fluid from the place that you have it and when that is removed it should apparently just re absorb into the body eventully or if it gets too uncomfortable it can be drained of by the bcn or hospital, i have had mine drained 2 times and still have it a bit but because it is small now they say leave it otherewise if you keep draining it it causes infection as I am on chemo I have just left it…
