IT IS THE WAITING!

I have had breast cancer before in 1996 and having had it once didn’t expect to get it again. I had been complaining to the breast clinic and my GP that once you have had breast cancer you shouldn’t have to wait for three yearly mammograms. Anyway thats another story.

I have had a needle biopsy which indicated grade 2 lobular breast cancer. I had a sentinel lymph node investigation last Friday and now I am waiting to see whether “THIS THING” has spread or if it is contained. If contained, I can have a second mastectomy and reconstruction at the same time. Looking on the bright side I shall have “two Pamela’s” and not “a Pamela and a Nora Batty”.
Take care you special people and keep fighting.

Oh dear Unlucky J. Should I say “welcome back?” no-one wants to need to come on here once, never mind twice! You know, at least in your head, from past experience, that being in “the waiting room” is one of the worst times in the whole process. If you can… try to stay in today… yeah, I know that’s not easy… but if you can bring yourself back to today, it helps a little…

You’re rigiht about the mammos! I’ve been having them yearly for ten years just because I was lumpy (no cancer at that point)…and I’ll be getting them yearly for some time to come now that I have had cancer. Interestingly though, the mammo I had last year showed up nothing, and surgeon says because of its spread to nodes, it must have been there for some time… they went back and double checked to see if they’d missed anything, but… so we have to keep vigilant ourselves don’t we? TO be honest, I only checked again this time cause a friend had a lump, (which was OK) but I thought “Oh yes, better check again”… and the rest is history, as they say.

Hope you get good news… and that the BCN can chase the results through quickly for you… (whatever the official “wait time”!!)

Taking my BCNurses out for tea and cake, they’ve been so fab…

Jane

Thanks Jane,

It’s good to know there are people who understand this weird situation. I have had a telephone message from my BCN who says the “Nodes look good” and an appointment has been made for me to see the surgeon on Thursday at 12.20. So dare I say it - no better not until tomorrow.

Well, she wouldn’t have said that unless… tell me tomorrow!!! Good for her, getting back to you! Keep me “posted”! Jane
