I've been discharged!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but thought my cancer experience might help others. 5 months ago I looked down in the shower and didn’t like what I saw. I was convinced my nipple had been normal the day before, so I waited 2 days then went to GP. She was unimpressed but referred me. There was no reassurance at the breast clinic. Just "Sorry at your age that is highly suspicious " And so it was Grade 2 lobular. So after a MRI , it was a mastectomy and SNB. The dreaded results day was put off , oh the thoughts that went through my mind ! But it was all good news. Just hormone therapy that so far has been kind. A few mouth ulcers and my arthritis needs stronger pain killers at times. Also vitamin d and calcium. Waited a long time for a Dexa scan.

l made a quick recovery after day surgery and was offered Pilates classes at the hospital where I met 4 other ladies and what a fun we had!

Yesterday I went for my 3 month check up and was discharged! Felt a bit scared out of the comfort zone. But the first person I told said “Wonderful news” and so it is . They are right . l found the problem myself and will continue to be vigilant and there is always the BCN number still in my phone, and 5 years of mammograms.

5 months . They have flown.

I know how lucky I have been .

Goodluck to all ladies on this site . I gave the details to a lady at the clinic yesterday. Someone did the same for me as I sat shell shocked after my first biopsy. We are all stronger than we think!

Best Wishes to you all

Fantastic news Joan, and such a positive post to help those ladies travelling along the road that we have been on.

Onwards and upwards!
