On cycle three .. here we go again. Day 3 really intense , so hard just moving about and the metal taste is horrible. But I am just over halfway now thank goodness. Sending support to you all x
Only just found this thread. Iāve done three weeks so far. Week one Taxol and Pembro. Weeks two and three just Taxol. At least 12 weeks planned before a big op with skin graft. Iāve also got ME and at my best can walk around the house but need a wheelchair/ scooter to go further. Iām almost 62 years old and live on my own but have a lot of support from friends and a new partner. We only met in October!! Iāve had so many side effects. Constipation, then loose. Chemo acne. Itching all over. Bloody nose. Oral thrush. Manic from steroids. And of course fatigue and aching muscles. 10 days ago I got an inner ear infection and had antibiotics. I didnāt have to miss chemo as I got it the day after. But this week I got very ill today with flu like symptoms, sore all over and cough, head ache. I phoned my emergency number. Covid test was negative but Iāll try again tomorrow as feels like Covid. Iāve been given more antibiotics but Iām not strong enough for chemo tomorrow. Iām disappointed about that.
Also Iāve got friends saying I need to be more careful about germ risk, but Iāve been really careful! Just wondered what other peopleās experiences were about getting colds, flu, infections.
Hi anncuk how have you found cycle three compared to one and two? Iām on exactly the same (TC three weekly) regime - I think about nine days behind you. Iām finding that I manage to deal better with things like constipation and bone pain this third time but the weird sensations ( head in a vice, flickering eyelids, numbness to name just a few) are ramping up and the metal mouth is horrible. Also the fatigue is much worse each time. And I am on a reduced dose as well ! Would be interested to hear how cycle three has been for you xxx
@awr Hello! Sorry for the late message, Iāve had a long day at work and just catching up now!
I absolutely sympathise with those side effects, even down to the eye flickering! That started this round and has been driving me mad. The worst side effect for me at the moment is the pain in my fingers and nails. Itās making gripping things a nightmare, opening jars, tying and untying shoe lacesā¦
I also agree about the bone pain getting more manageable. Iād say exhaustion is getting worse thoughā¦
Iām very concerned for round 4 as itās like a hurricane went through me on round 3, I was sick for the first time too and donāt even get me started on the spots/rash and eye stye! Xx
That does sound like a horrible hurricane. But you have managed to work so I am full of admiration. It took me longer to feel better last time so I am expecting the intense part to go on for a bit. I am following in your footsteps so very interested in how things go and sending you all the best .. hope some good days before round four x
@awr Thanks so much! Iām just having a lie down on the sofa to preserve my energy before the week arrives! I hope youāre having a good Sunday too! x
Preserving energy is SO important. Itās so easy to overdo it .. I have never experienced anything like this where there is only so much energy available and so little of it. I have got to the end of what I call ā pyjama weekā now for the improving stage I hope. If only I wasnāt so obsessed with food , itās all I can think about -besides the latest side effects. Putting on the pounds is still better than having no appetite though x
@awr I love that - pyjama week. Again, absolutely essential! Iāve been in my dressing gown all day ahead of two normal days then let cycle 4 begin! Blood test tomorrow, steroids Tuesday, chemo Wednesday! Iām sure you will have a few good days now, it seems to be the pattern! x
Bloody snot has advanced to actual nosebleeds this weekend. I assume itās the colder air and low platelets but Iāve had a couple of nosebleeds now, getting more āproperā each time. They seem to stop within a couple of minutes so I havenāt been too worried.
Went to my old yoga class today! Itās very small, like 7 people max, so it felt fairly safe and itās a nice environment. I did what I could, if my immune system holds up I might try to go more often again.
@awr Thank you! Just had the blood test so fingers crossed the results will be good. I told my body it was sitting an exam this morning! How are you doing? x
@demimiray Oh gosh, thatās not a nice side effect is it! Iām sick of my nose bleeding every time I blow it but havenāt had any full bleeds so far. Itās great youāve done yoga, I think things like that really help! How far are you into treatment now? x
Iām pretty much halfway now - Iāve done my 4x 2weekly EC and I start 9-12 weekly Paclitaxel tomorrow. Iām very nervous about having a reaction but fingers crossed.
In for bloods today, hopefully go better than last time when they had to dig around for a vein and failed to access my port
Those nose bleeds do not sound fun at all ! I havenāt had that yet but day ten every cycle my nose runs and I sneeze all day .. weird! And each round starts with having to take senakot to help constipation but ends up with the reverse so that I canāt be too far from the loo. Also new random side effects appear as well.. currently a rash . But days ten onwards are still an improvement. The taking an exam idea is great , going to tell myself that next week!
