No 3 weekly cycle for me anymore! Just been for bloods in preparation for chemo tomorrow, then I’ve got an appointment with the onc on Thursday so that’s 3 days in a row that I’ll have to go to the hospital!
I’m having a proper sick day today as I made the error of going to work yesterday and I felt awful once I got home so it’s the couch and a movie now. I think I’ll just stay home from work now until I’m all done with treatment, focus on being as well as I can.
Rosie, Asda do a good range of post op bras and are a good price. I can’t stand bras so even before my mx I was using padded crop tops and comfort bras. However I did get a proper post op bra to put my “chicken fillet” in, although I do find it a bit uncomfortable and heavy. I believe I’ll be offered reconstruction once I’m all clear
Hi Thanks for the bra tips…seems to be something else I cant decide on!!
Shocked I cold cap through the lot but I shaved after the first cycle when I got 2 big bald spots so now I have a total cover and the bald spots both have a lighter covering. So essentially the cold cap worked but appeared to work much better after the shave…I spend way too much time also looking at hair growth pictures!!!
For me working has saved my sanity and they made it so easy for me…as you can see by my frequent daytime posts I dont push myself to hard…xx
So whos finished or nearly finished now I keep loosing track of us all xx
It feels worth it now Shocked but I can absoulutely guarantee I will never put that hideous thing on my head again…even the thought of it now makes me feel sick!!!
Bumped into a friend today that went through Chemo twice due to Vaginal Cancer. She said so many people told her she looked great with the cropped grey hair and she said it made no difference to her how much they said it she just wanted her hair back…xx
Hi ladies, the wig buying monster in me strikes again, if you’ve got a luvyababes dressing up shop near you get on down there, they’ve had amazing range of wigs in £14.99, long. Layered, bobs, with fringe, without fringe, all colours, curly the lot, happy shopping ladies ????Shi xx
Shocked, it’s not itchy at all having wig on while hairs re-growing and I went back on fec for my last one and you’ll be fine it won’t make that much difference to regrowth ??nice try by the way for extra steroids ???you must like bouncing off the wall at all hours ???Shi xx
Rosie, totally agree 're the cold cap. I have cold capped every time - lost about 70% I guess. I dread putting it on every time but seems to have been worth it. First 10 minutes are like being dunked in a ice cold pond head first…but chemo nurses on my unit usually come sit with me for a bit to help me get through it. Only one more to go.
I’ve kept the long bits on the sides, but once my last treatment done I’m going to see my hairdresser and get it graded down - that way it’ll grow back all the same length - and at least I’ll have the option to go ‘headscarf free’ if i wanted. Couldn’t do that now I look like a monk!!!
Things have gone quiet again relationship wise - but we care defo living more as friends then a married couple. Hes been spending a lot of time looking at rightmove on his phone which concerns me a bit. Tbh our relationship was a bit rocky before all this…its definitely showing the cracks now. At least we are being amicable and both agree that we need to have a sensible conversation about it. Just need to think about what I want from it going forward.
Hi.
I have my last chemo tomorrow! ?. I’ve still got the lead legs from last chemo so have asked for the 20% reduction tomorrow otherwise I think it might floor me and I can’t have that as I want to enjoy a holiday in four weeks! ?. I have continued to cold cap and have lost about 90% I literally have the lower strands left and it is still falling out daily but also growing back on the top?! ?♀️ FEC v T?! I never want to see the cold cap again!! Xx
Hi there I haven’t commented for a while ended up in hospital after 1st taxotere 2nd tax went relatively ok as reduced lengthy steroids ( seems taking the extra 3 days on top only hindered and gave more side effects so feel reassured if only on usual 3) and reduced to 90% which some how made huge difference.only 1 more to go!
I have still been reading and benefiting from all your posts from you lovely ladies going through it all. It’s so reassuring my worries are generally yours! I don’t think anyone not gone through it truly gets how big things are to us and may seem so trivial…
I was on a bit of a high knowing only one more left and actually feeling like a bit of my old spark had come back to life and managing to do things we use to take for granted like mow the lawn! But have come back to earth again as frustrated as the fatigue and fog still there!
But so nearly there…fed up of another sleepless night so on settee with my peppermint tea …so why is there tears rolling down my face when so nearly there!
Referring to your recent posts…i too can’t face wigs and still daily big decision what to wear on head actually liked the nice weather as got away with normal sunhats! Not chemo scarf. Hair thickening but keeping it shaved number 2 waiting for the monk bald spots to fill out ( cold capped throughout in end and seems to be thickening). I got a shaver in the end and it’s so easy to do it yourself and keep it neat. Once it’s thicker I’ll let it grow and I’m going lilac to hide my now sparce white/ grey hair ( was thick and brown pre this). Still think losing my hair has been bigger issue than losing my boob!
Keep going ( I’m saying this as a mantra to myself too) we are all getting further to the otherside each day no matter how far away it seems xxxx
Morning ladies , just taken my steroids ready for number 5 tomorrow , 2ndT , hoping my body copes a bit better this time , my bottom has just about gone back to normal and not one ounce was lost !!
That will take me to the ‘ last one ‘! I can’t believe how far we have come , warriors we are x
???
MooMoo…I was exactly the same coming up to my last one. Couldnt understand why I wasnt elated and had more tears after that last dose than I did any other. I think when you get to the end not only are you exhausted but somewhere in your subconscious something gives in a little bit and the trauma of it all starts to hit you.
I can absolutely promise you 16 days after my last session and I feel so much more like me because I now know there is no count down to feeling that awful chemo feeling again…
Marie Whoop Whoop nearly there…
CT…sending you a huge hug xxx
Shi thank you so much I will pop on today (while Im supposed to be working) and have a look
i just wanted your opinions on this. I am going to my cousins wedding next week and my daughter is a flower girl. My eye lashes have gone and I wondered if I should go and have some fake ones put on? I look very alien like with no brows or lashes and just thought this occasion might be worth it. I wondered if anyone knew anything about fake eyelashes and if the process could cause irritation etc?
Thanks just woke up again sorry for long blurb last night. But thanks for support Rosie.
Sorry starfire have no idea about lashes but interested in your responses good luck x
Yo girls !
I’m still on my steroid high so go go me !
CT scan went fine no reaction to the dye this time. I’m booked in for chemo 7 next Wednesday and seeing onc before to plan the rest of treatment.
Starfire is go to a beauty shop and get them to put some lashes on for you. From the little I know if you’ve none there there’s nothing to damage. Repeated wear of lashes can damage exsisting ones - well the glue can. My daughter bought herself some cheap ones last week so she’s been looking it up. It’s getting them on and in the right place that’s tricky, done need cutting or curling before you wear them.
In fact why don’t you go somewhere and get your make up done professionally it might help you feel better about how you look as a whole. Make up counters in places like Debenhams will do a full make up and if you buy a couple of products afterwards you get thecsession free ! Just ring to check who can do eyelashes too. My niece had her prom makeup done by urban decay and they do lashes. Daughter is going to Mac and they do lashes.
It’s funny how loss affects us differently. I’ve been really chilled about loosing my hair. Happy to go bald. Tell everyone that compliments me on my highlights it’s a wig and why I’m wearing it. But surgery - I’m terrified of looking like a freak afterwards !
We are all so different
Love you lovely ladies and looking forward to meeting you all x
Hi Rosie, no the CT scan was to look st my veins and arteries in my stomach prior to surgery so she can plan what she’s doing.
I’m not expecting anyone to feed anything back though I am seeing onc next week before chemo so might ask her if there’s anything significant on it.
I went into Primark today for school socks and at the till came across these lashes. I’ve just tried them on and they are light and look real. There were others but they were huge and looked obviously fake. Worth a try for a pound I say. I stuck them just above the eye lid edge and no funny reaction to the glue!
Starfire my darling daughter who spends hours pleat hing make up you tube tutorials said primark lashes are supposed to be quite good. The glue isn’t the best though. She bought one from boots called Duo Ggreen label) It’s latex free and has vitamins in it so I’m told.
Not sure if they stay on in this water you better stick to the sun beds !
