January chemo starters ?

Well my lovelies what a day today has been.
Went to see my onc prior to final chemo on Monday.
Saw junior Dr first, who went through the whole ‘how you doing’ stuff, and was then told that the head Onc wanted to talk to me about something (Me = panic stations thinking what’s wrong)
In he comes. Says looked at my charts and records and history. Doesn’t see any need for another round of chemo and happy to move to herceptin only and tamoxifen… I BEG PARDON!!! Yup - no more chemo for Me!!! Burst into tears and gave him a massive hug!! So happy right now!!! Booked to get line removed also!!! I’m proper chuffed!!!

Only slight downer…told my OH then went out to tell my sister! Got back at half 8 to crack open a bottle of bubbly I’ve been saving and OH said…
Not tonight I’m tired - and went to bed ? not the response I hoped for tbh. Tried not to let it spoil my happy but it has tainted it.
So celebrated on my own with two glasses of port while watching telly and eating birthday cake… yay me. Excited to tell friends tomorrow ?

Crazy times, Excellent…Yay well Done,??? how many did you have in total? I’m really pleased you are happy with the decision. What a relief for you xxx ???‍♀️???

Well done crazy times !!!
You must be so chuffed ! Xxx

Thanks Jamesy, very chuffed! Starfire I had 5 in total out of the planned 6. Onc I saw (as mine has been off sick since round 2) said he would have given me 4!!

And we have another finisher!! Yay, well done CT  Bit of a disappointing reaction from your OH, oh well save the bubbles to share with someone else…or have it all yourself, that’s what I’d do, ha ha ?

Had my 2nd weekly Pacitaxel yesterday which I was a bit worried about in the morning as I’d been feeling a bit rough from the previous one, but once we got going it was ok.  And I’m back on the steroids for the next few days so they’ll prop me for a bit ?

CT fantastic news ???
We will all be drinking bubbly when we meet up. I’m sorry the OH took the shine off but hopefully your friends will be there to pop the cork with you.
Sooooooo delighted ???

CT whoop whoop thats amazing news…I am so so happy for you. You celebrate your little heart out and dont let anyone take this moment for you…its like someone just gave you three weeks of life back.

So ladies thats me and CT at the Chemo finish line now cheering like mad for the rest of you…

Starfire are you done now too? Im getting confussed!!! xxx

Those Primark lashes look good starfire thanks for sharing. Great news crazy times and Rosie on finishing chemo. I would of just opened the bottle anyhow crazy times !
Thanks shocked …my brain is also still foggy and gets me in a pickle…all I can say is I’d be dangerous if I was trying to work as well. Blocking that thought out…
I’ve had a moving forward course come through for next week it’s a 4 week course 10 til 1pm every Wednesday. It’s freaking me out as feel I’m not ready yet …still got chemo x1 and 3 weeks radiotherapy before I can focus.has anyone else been invited yet. I feel it’s too early I’m waiting for LGFB session to come through yet as think that’s what I need more at moment.or should I just bite the bullet and try and go though I’m sure I won’t feel like it after next chemo.

Just had first herceptin and 2 nd T was shocked as I thought herceptin would go through Hickman and I had the injection , lasted 5 mins , was a bit stingy but fine xx let’s see what next ten days bring , they have changed my appt next week to meeting with onc after last little a/e blip so good keeping an eye on me xx ??

Nice one Jamesy ? I think Herceptin can be either, mine currently goes in through my picc line but that might change further down the treatment track.

Hi moomoo, I would think doing the LGFB session 1st would make more sense.  I did mine a couple of weeks ago which was good timing.  Have they given a contact at all on the moving forward course where you can ring or email to see when the next one is and see if you can get on that one? I didn’t even know anything about a moving forward course?!

Hi ladies, just dropping in to ask your wise opinions. I’m from the April thread. I’ve had one round of chemo and start my 2nd tomorrow. I used the cold cap and intend to tomorrow but today noticed my hair has started to shed. Did any of you use it and did it work? X

Hi Rosie rang the moving forward number going in September as makes more sense after treatment finished. I think everyone gets the invite it’s through the breast cancer care organisation. I did ask chemo nurse last week about LGFB x

Hi Michelle. Well done on getting through your first round.
I cold capped for 5 cycles of TCH. It’s quite normal still to loose some hair - I lost about 70% I would say. Mine started to shed heavy just before cycle 2, but stopped about cycle 4. I now have a tiny bit of new hair coming through after week 3 of cycle 5.
If you can stick with it then do, as the cold cap can also stimulate hair follicles and speed up re-growth.
Good luck with the rest of your treatment lovely lady x

Thanks Crazy Times, can I ask could you still wear your hair naturally with 70% gone or do you wear scarves/wig? Also my third chemo will last approx 8 hours and longer with the cold cap, how long was your chemo? Do you think wearing the cold cap for that long is doable? Sorry for so many questions I just want to try and prepare myself the best I can.

That’s good news shocked x Michelle I found worst hair loss was after 2nd fec kept about 70% but lost more on top than sides and I’m nearly on to last t and definitely believe the cold cap has helped with regrowth as thicker than was though still not regrown yet.if you can tolerate it do it as I’m told even if hair drops out the hair follicles may of been protected a bit and may grow back quicker x good luck.

Hi Michelle, feel free to fire as many Q’s as you like! I have had to wear scarves and hats as my loss is really patchy. I also graded whats left down to grade 5.
8 hours with the cold cap seems a really long time. I only did 90 minutes each time due to only having to wear it during my docetaxal infusion. I will admitvas I lost my hair it did get harder to tolerate the cold (less insulaton I guess!!) But do stick with it if you can xx

Ct ???Fantastic news darling and sending you ???sunshine because you shine you beautiful ???lady, well done ??shocked glad you got your half chicken fillet sorted, it’s lovely to be level again in clothing isn’t it ??remember ladies during rads it’s braless, and you’ll have to air yourself as much as possible, e45 cream, Aveno, Holland and Barrett dr organic aloe Vera with tea tree for creaming to take ???off. Aliand have you got your front fastening pj’s yet and for post op bra, I got zippy front sports bra from M&S, go size up so if you are a 36, go for 38 or 40 as you’ll be a bit swollen and it’ll be more comfy. That’s another one up on the beach ? that rafts doing well. Starfire if Tom hardy does it for you my lovely then you enjoy him serving you ???while you have a rest on beach till everyone else arrives ??you deserve a pamper ???:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx

Thank you Shocked. Well done CrazyTimes and Rosie, it’s a great feeling to reach the end of this stage!
Hi Michelle, I have cold cap for all 6 of my sessions, my hair has continued to fall out throughout but has also started growing back at the same time! ?‍♀️. I’ve lost about 90% I guess and wear a wide cotton hair band that covers my head with a little ponytail hanging out! ? xx

Thanks crazytimes and Marie. I guess I had just expected better results from thie cold cap. Having said that I still have plenty of hair left at the moment so I guess like all of this I have to take it s day at s time. You’ve also got me thinking that although my treatment will last 8 hours perhaps I won’t have to wear it the whole time. I will try to persevere, thanks again for all your help x
