Joining you girls

Joining you girls Just posted in the wrong place.

Have just come back from my consultant - was due for WLE last week but it was cancelled at the eleventh hour due to findings on my CT scan.

Although I have one more test to go (lung biopsy), the consultant is pretty sure that I have secondaries in my lungs. Am due to start chemo in a couple of weeks time.

You girls are normally up-beat - anyone got any inspiration for me…

LOL
Heather

Welcome Welcome to this illustrious group, HeatherLou, where we, of course, are always upbeat! That’s when we aren’t feeling down, confused, frightened and all the other emotions that go with the territory!

The waiting around is certainly the worst bit - once you know what you are facing and what can be done about it (there are so many things now that can be done) it becomes a bit easier to accept, I find. Even the fear of chemo seems to be less once you get going with it - it’s usually bearable, if unpleasant, and there are plenty of remedies to help with any uncomfortable side effects.

So sorry you had to join us, but do let us know you you get on and don’t hesitate to share your feelings with us. Sometimes this is the only place to find people who understand exactly what you’re going through.

Dear Heather If you feel that you need further support during this difficult period please don’t hesitate to contact our helpline on 0808 800 6000, the helpliners can provide information and advice and a ‘listening ear’.

It is open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-2pm.

Kind regards

Hi there Heather So sorry to have to make your acquaintance in this way, but WELCOME anyway!

I hope you will find that you do come across inspiration, hope, information, friendliness and support here, and much more.

I am sure you are in a rough place right now. I remember when I was diagnosed (BC and liver mets together) almost 2 years ago. It took a long time and a lot of info. from the likes of this forum to start to get my head round it. I hope you don’t have to wait long for answers and a treatment plan. Things seem far more under control when you have a good plan of action.

In the meantime, there are plenty of women here to help with your queries, who know what it is like to be in your situation.

Do take care,

Love Jenny.

welcome hi - welcome to here - the group nobody wants to really join!!
I’m really sorry that you are having to have more tests before chemo -that must make the waiting around even worse.
It is the waiting that always gets me and although chemo can be horrible, at least it feels you are doing something positive. I’m now on my 4th chemo and side effects have all been different but I’m still here and well enough to work and go shopping and do lunches!!
We all do have our ups and downs and just post if you are down and people here are very supportive and tell us any good news, as well.
There is alot of abbreviations and jargon used so just ask if you don’t understand it - I always did.
Hope the biopsy gets done quickly and you can start chemo soon.
Kate

I’m sorry you have to join us Heather.
Good Luck with your chemo…I’ve been living well with mets since 2003, there are lots of good treatments out there for us. Take Care. xx

Hi Heather,

Sorry you are joining us, welcome! I’ve had my mets for 2 years and am just finishing my first lot of chemo and it’s hasn’t been nearly as bad as I thought.

Good luck with the treatment.

Love Twinkle xoxo

Hi Heater!! I also have lung mets and quite a few lymph nodes in chest and was dx in Nov 05. I tried a few months of hormone therapy and my mets progressed. It was then decided to blast them with chemo. I did 6 months of chemo which ended Aug 06 and have been stable since. I go for a CT scan every two months. I feel wonderful and have a hard time believing I’m sick. I had a CT guided needle lung biopsy (done thru your back) I am the biggest chicken in the world and I had no problems or pain. If you are going to need chemo push for a port a cath. They are wonderful!!! Funnyface

Sorry Heather typed your name as Heater…fingers are stiff tonight. Funnyface
