July 2024 chemo starters

You look beautiful!!! What a gorgeous smile :heart_eyes::heart_eyes: made my morning opening that up!!

Ok wow!! I’ll be having a look at your etsy shop for sure!!! I love sunflowers and these are gorgeous xxxx

Hi ladies!! Been reading about all the abemaciclib stuff. Im also on it and im on 100mg. I have to take Loperamide twice a week usually and i know what not to eat now because ive figured out what sets it off (too much dairy, too much fat, spicy food… so basically all the nice things lol)
I had a conversation with my oncologist yesterday about how bad the aching is in my feet and she said its a side effect from the Letrozole. Shes changing me to Anastrozole as of tomorrow… im bricking it!! Lol. Its another new drug… what if this one is worse… the usual ya know?

Anyway. Its been lovely to read all your msgs. Sorry again for how long it takes for me to get back to people!! Life seems more hectic now, compared to not being able to do anything properly because of surgery/chemo haha.

Thanks so much for your lovely comment. Came through at just the right time. Ive been feeling a little down. I know i look so much older now and i didn’t think it would bother me this much. Its lovely to hear from you and I hope the new meds work out. Xxxx

I know how you feel, a man mistook me for my sisters mum the other day. Shes 28 and I’m 37. I was horrified. But then i gave my head a wobble and thought ā€œI’ll see my son grow upā€ and thats what’s important. You’re beautiful. Be kind to yourself please :heart::heart::heart:

Aww bless. Its weird how it bothered me more than wearing a bandana. Im also going to give my head a wobble . We are here and stronger :muscle:. Ive cheered myself up by booking in to have my nails done for my jollies. She said she can build my big toe nails up no problem so they won’t look as bad. . Its all about working with what you’ve got i suppose  take care lovely lady xx

I would check with your team if wanting gel/acrylic nails as its advised not to for risk of infection, your nails may be affected by the chemo, cracking, brittle, lifting.

Hi thanks for the advice. I finished chemo in October and my nails did lift and fall off but have grown back ok just haven’t reached the top of my toes yet. Ill look into though thankyou

Let me know how the new drug is

I gave myself a drug holiday from Letrozole and was gently reminded at my appt last week , the first 2 years are high risk :exploding_head:

So back on the letrozole

Had a scare re liver looking dodgy and had to have it scanned BUT ALL GOOD

I have to say the dread of last year came flooding back

Hope everyone is well!!

So far the Anastrozole has given me the same side effects I had when first taking the Letrozole. UTI symptoms, diarrhea, nausea and headaches. Its only day 3 of the Anastrozole.
These side effects stopped with the Letrozole about 1-2months in. It’s frustrating for sure. I can’t drink anything other than water because it feels like I’m peeing acid.
I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself tbh :rofl: my husband said "its to be expected":expressionless::expressionless:
I was thoroughly unimpressed lol.

Hope every has had a lovely weekend though!

How long did you have the drug holiday for @idcand49 ? Xxxx

So ladies I straightened my bit of hair for the first time today and people commented on how nice it looked so that’s a positive!

I went to Italy last weekend for a post treatment European break with a friend. It was very hot and we had a power whilst in the lift (even hotter!) but defo gave me more confidence to travel again.

I am going on an ABCD retreat at the weekend on my own so proud of myself for that.

Abemaciclib still giving me the D sometimes but managed my trip to Italy absolutely fine :star_struck::tada::muscle:t3:

Just being nosey but wondering how they were concerned about your liver and wanted to scan it? Was it your blood results?
So happy to hear it was all clear x

Morning
So fab to hear you went away! What fun it must have been

We are meant to get cholesterol checked every 6 m if on an AI (you have to remind the GP lol) And the GP rang to say my liver readings had shot up since my last blood test and seemed to be under metabolic stress

It took me back to those horrible days when the pit of your stomach is feeling dread

My onco suggested re running bloods /doing a scan as sadly we are patients that need scans anytime symptoms appear - this also threw me off

But thankfully all good !

It may be meds or lifestyle /recovery still from chemo infection etc

But nothing sinister

Hi everyone, hope all doing ok?

I am on my final cycle of cape so will be finally finishing chemo soon  still waiting for radiotherapy appointment, apparently it could be a 3 month wait and then I may have to travel about an hour to get there :face_with_peeking_eye:

Had a week in Spain in June which luckily was when I had my week off Cape :+1: it was lovely to get away after so long!

Hope you are all ok with ongoing treatment?

Take care :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

How do you feel being on the last cycle ?

Must feel like a milestone !

This time last year I took my first steroid tabs to start my chemo the day after

How much has changed !

So lovely to hear you had a cheeky break. It must have felt bliss .

Hope you don’t have too many radio sessions

An hr each way sounds tiring

How are you feeling otherwise x

I am excited to finish but guess I may have the odd feeling of feeling vunerable of not having this safety net anymore! But due 5 days of radio so not quite there yet!

I started IV chemo on 2nd July if I knew I was still going to be on oral chemo a year later I may have run for the hills :weary:

You never know how this journey will go, my original plan mean’t I should have completed all treatment in March, but hey ho not to be! I still also have 5 more Zoledronic Acid infusions over 3 years, 2nd one due Sept!

Hope your doing ok, a holiday was well needed went with my two boys and sister’s family

Take care xx

Just wondering if your husband knows my oncologist :wink:… it’s the standard reply.

Feels mighty weird to think a year ago was the big stuff starting. Just weird and where the hell has that year gone?

14 months on from my breast surgeon referral I finally saw gynaecologist this week. 30 year old trouble free ovarian cysts are to be investigated and either ignored or hysterectomy to happen. More at risk of ovarian cancer now, so I suppose it wasn’t a wasted appointment. Thinking of getting an Industrial Dyson so I can just have a good hoover out :joy::joy: might save a whole heap of trouble in the long run :grimacing:

Big hugs to all on our anniversary month. Who’d have thought we’d get this far?! You’ve all been true friends when most needed. Thank you xxx

Hi all
Just checked in to see how everyone is doing. Happy anniversary!! What a year, eh?
@caz1970 I’m just starting cycle 5 of cape but I did my radiotherapy- 15 sessions- first.
It’s wonderful to have most of the treatment behind and hopefully none of us will be doing this again.
I’m still adjusting really. My ā€œnew breastā€ is still swollen so when i don’t pad up my other, original breast, it looks as if I’ve had a mascetomy, just on the wrong side! I’m hoping when i next see my surgeon, she will say it’s much better but I’m not sure.
I’m reading another cancer book called The Cancer Survivor’s Companion. It’s a good read- some useful coping strategies.
