@kerrylou1 Hope your bloods are ok for your next lot of Abemaciclib and that the side effects aren’t too bad from your infusion. I’m still waiting for a date for mine although I’ve had really bad toothache today and panicking as to whether to go back to dentist to see if I need tooth taken out first. It’s one that has bothered me in the past.
@debi1 Happy Birthday, hope you have a lovely day.
xx
Loving all the hair pics, here’s mine. Left pic was just after I was diagnosed last May and right one from last week - 10 months later but feeling about 10 years older! A stone and a half heavier too.
Thanks for all the hair pics. We are all having to get used to our new styles. @kerrylou1 glad it went well yesterday hope you get your tooth sorted hun. @angieb1 thanks hun 57

Hi @caz1970
Had my infusion on Monday. I’m ok up to now. Went to yoga Monday and Tuesday night and hoping any side effects from the infusion don’t appear in the next few days! ![]()

Hi all
Great to see the hair pictures and read all your news.
I went sea swimming today- my first time this year. I used to go regularly with this group of women. I was worried about my new breast (bigger than my remaining one which has shrunk throughout treatment), and my hair. What I forgot was that everyone is more concerned with themselves when swimming so it was fine. No stares or comments except positive ones. Now I have no excuse not to go again. It was cold- I only lasted 8 minutes ![]()
Tuesday I start radiotherapy. Any tips? I had the planning scan and I’ve seen a model of the machine which looks terrifyingly large.
Xx
Oh nice one on the swimming
bet it felt so damn good and ‘normal’
. Well done x
Tips for radio- easy to change clothes and shoes, the staff will be amazing, so don’t fear getting your body out, they will be so supportive - sooner in, sooner out. It does get easier with each visit, the machine is a little unusual but you’ll soon be comfortable. If you’re not, tell the staff - it should be an okay experience- if it isn’t then say so. Slap on as much moisturiser as you can a few times a day. You’ll likely be hot at night, so try to keep the area cool - it’ll help the skin and you (I went topless in bed during radio - it was easier to cool off quickly and nothing rubbed on my skin). Good luck with it xx
I can just about paddle in a pool the best of times so well done for getting an open water swim in! ![]()
Agree with Pips advice re radio also drink plenty of water. It dehydrated me & I had bouts of nausea
Moo Goo was my moisturiser of choice
How many sessions do you have? X
@cf640 Well done on the sea swimming!
Good luck with the radiotherapy, you’ll be fine. I agree with what the others have said. I was given a big tube of Flamigel to put on before and after and I only ended up with redness and a slight rash. I wore a vest top instead of a bra for the last few days of it so I didn’t have anything rubbing or too tight. xx
Exactly what @pipspops and @idcand49 said. Ni feel i was lucky with radio, no problems just got a bit tired of travelling everyday. Less than 10 mins under machine. Try and relax as much as you can because when i was a bit tense my shoulder would hurt more afterwards. Well done you with swimming you should be so proud of yourself. I nipped in to my hairdressers the other day to show her she said she will shape it for me so going to sort something. Im showing more people now but just lacking the confidence to go out local without head wear. Ill get there. Xxx
@idcand49 I have 15 so 3 weeks of it. I’ll get some Moogoo- just for the name really! I don’t know if they give us anything free. I did get an extra bottle of Aveeno.
How many sessions did you have? xx
@debi1
I was expecting all the swimmers to gasp when i took off my hat but nobody seemed to notice. Thats wonderful you have enough hair to be shaped- i look like an escaped army recruit!!
X
Thank you all for your replies! What a wonderful group this is! It’s great to learn/ benefit from your experiences.
And I’ll have to keep swimming now I’ve told you all. It was brilliant- I was actually smiling.
xx
Aww bless you. I don’t feel like there is enough. I certainly haven’t got a fringe lol AND its starting to curl a bit on the back
. But ill let her have a go anyway. Xx
19 (last 4 were boosts)
Oh another tip is massage the area as it will get tight
My scar and radio area is super tight and tender now & should have been massaging the area
Live and learn
The sun is peaking out - hope you get a swim in xxx
Hi all, so finally after a 3 week break due to low blood counts, restarted on targeted therapy treatment last week. Thought all was going ok and then after having pains/swelling in lower leg/ankle for a few days decided to finally call rapid response for advice today. Ended up spending the morning in hospital having, bloods, examination and scan. Scan results came back showing that I have a blood clot. This really is the crappy gift that keeps giving
. Has anyone else had a similar experience on this treatment? X
@ldm So sorry for what you are going through. I hope they get you sorted and you’re back home and feeling better soon.
I started my Abemaciclib on 26th February and found that I had a cough that was getting worse. Oncologist sent me for a CT scan and has told me that the radiotherapy has damaged my lung. I now have radiation induced pneumonitis. Apparently the Abemaciclib can make this worse so I have to come off it for a few weeks and see if the cough improves.
Have they said if it was the Abemaciclib that has caused your clot? xx
