June 2025 chemo starters

You look amazing in your wig @mandymoo2004! I hope you have a wonderful time at the graduation ceremony.
Congratulations @brox on getting through EC-that’s quite a milestone!

I love the wig! I am trying on wigs at the hair shop in the hospital tomorrow. My hair is (was) curly so they’ve got some curly ones in for me to try. I’m also going to an initial assessment at our local sports centre who offered 12 weeks of exercise sessions to people at any stage of cancer diagnosis/treatment, interested to see what they can do for me. Does anyone else have this available?

Thanks, have ordered polybalm and Aesop scalp oil. The oil may be too strong smelling but I’m going to give it a try and will report back in case it is helpful.
I’m really glad I joined this group. It’s the first time I’ve heard from people going through a similar experience and I was really missing that.

Hi everyone. Just caught up with all your posts.
So sorry to hear you’ve been unwell @warmfuzzies. Hope you’re feeling much better now. Good luck with your appointment witb the oncologist tomorrow.
Welcome @nelly1 - sorry you’ve had to join us but lovely to have you here!
@jenny4 I have used a Rosemary scalp oil (and shampoo and conditioner) all through my chemo and definitely have an aversion to the smell now. It makes me feel a bit sick. But still havent lost any hair.
In fact I’ve been so concerned about this I went back to my oncologist who arranged another MRI ( he was surprised too) He assured me the chemo was working and the tumour was shrinking but said my tumour is hard to define and we can’t know for sure until surgery. So he is bringing the paclitaxel forward and cutting out my 4th EC. So last EC on Tuesday.
Not sure what to make of that. Has anyone else had the EC reduced?
@mandymoo2004 your wig looks fantastic. Hope the graduation goes well!
@brox well done on having your last EC. That must feel good!
I have been using the Polybalm and my nails are best they’ve ever been in my life. So waiting to see what will happen now with the paclitaxel. I’ve bought gloves and socks with ice packs off Amazon so I’ll be icing hands and feet to try and save nails and prevent peripheral neuropathy.
Having a lazy day today as the fatigue has been quite intense this week.
Hope you all have a great Sunday X

Ooh. The exercise thing is interesting.
I’ve not been to the gym as too nervous about infections even on a ‘good’ day.

Feel like I’m slowly coming out of the worst part of EC#4. It’s hard. But. Nowhere near as bad as #3. So the reduced dose has helped.

Well done ladies in the wigs. Looking fabulous.

I’ve ordered some moo for you. Hoping it will be good for my scalp.

Any tips on Pacletaxel? That’s what I’m moving in to next. Not sure what to expect.

I’ll feedback on the exercise session. I’m also interested in how people cope with paclixatel as I start EC3 on Wednesday then it’s nine weeks of weekly paclixatel.

Hi I’m about to have my 10th packitaxel
Def get the cold gloves and socks
I have found pax to be relentless as just as soon as I feel like I’ve got more energy then it’s time for the next
It’s not as bad as EC but the tiredness 100% builds each week
You won’t have injections or steroids to take home. Just anti sickness.
My hair is also growing back on weekly pax
Hope this helps x

I hadn’t heard of local gyms giving free sessions but that sounds like a great idea for when we’re feeling well enough. I’m lucky that I’m offered exercise medicine (gentle cardio and strength training) where I get my chemo-it’s in a tiny gym room but really perks me up when I go. I’ve avoided going on days when I’m completely shattered or know my immunity will be really down.
@cheche it’s amazing that you’ve kept your hair! I’m glad at least one of us has.
It’s so encouraging that lots of you are getting to the half way point. My onco said that EC is generally worse side-effect wise than the taxane based chemos. He said to expect to feel tired but not sick. Fingers crossed that that holds true…

It was reccomended on this group, I’ve had no problems with my nails and use it every night. I also keep my toes out of sunlight and in trainers. With 3 weekly pax to go I’m hoping I’ll retain them all x
