Ah glad it went ok. All I keep seeing is horror stories so that makes me feel better. That’s so annoying about marmite though xxxx

Absolutely. I have really been enjoying marmite on toast in the morning. Fingers crossed the same doesn’t happen to coffee! Had my first set of pills and just injected myself - which was easy. Now aiming to spend the day lying on the sofa as moving around brings me out in a sweat! On red alert for weather where I am. It might go up to at least 35 or more over the next couple of days. Hope it is a little cooler where you are x

Thanks. So far, so good. Just the red pee and feeling a little out of sorts but nothing I can put my finger on - suspect it is more due to the heat more than anything. At least I know when my next session is - I have 4 weeks notice rather than less than 24 hours!

Yep we are the south west so literally melting right now. You are a rockstar doing it this week xxxx

I have no choice. The main annoying thing is that until now I have had a decent walk in the morning so that if I flake out in the afternoon, I can lie on the sofa guilt free. A short evening walk in the muggy heat is not quite the same - maybe I would get up during one of my many wakeups in the night and go for a walk then. xx

Hello, and welcome to June thread.. I think most of us have had our first cycle now and experienced the SE on the first week..

has anyone lost all of their hair yet?? Mines coming out quite thick and fast now and I’ve been for my wig fitting but it’s so hot I just don’t think I can tolerate a wig in the heat! Or a head scarf! Did your head feel really sensitive? Mine feels really tender in parts..

had side effects first week but been pretty normal the last week and this one ( except for a snotty cold) I’m due for my next infusion next Tuesday but they have delayed it till 7th July as my heart rate was playing up on the first week and my oncologist won’t give me anymore until cardio have reviewed me first. Only problem is my cardio is in a different hospital to my oncology so they don’t have direct contact !! Could be waiting a couple of weeks before restarting again!! Which then buggers up my plans for a wedding in August I am attending!!

Oh and my picc line blocked up which meant a hospital visit and now they have taken it out which is fabulous!!! But I do have to have it put back in again next week!! Took about 5 attempts to get it in originally!!

Nothings ever simple!!

Hope everyone’s having some normal time though before their next dose!! And good luck to all starting in the next week x

Thinking of you @loopylea , it must be feel a bit frustrating for the plan to keep evolving and not know if you can make certain dates or how you’re going to feel when.

Hope the cardio consult goes ok and everyone gets some reassurance.

I’m back Friday for round 2 but my daughters just spiked a fever so we’re all covid testing- what a blast from the past

hope those down south are able to have a comfortable nights sleep- I was listening to folk on the radio say to half full a water bottle and pop it in the freezer then take it to bed xx

Oh @loopylea sorry to hear it’s not going straightforwardly for you!! PICC out and then in again?! :grimacing::grimacing:

Have had my 2nd chemo a week ago and generally getting away with few side effects - very tried, but no sickness. But despite cold cap my hair is shedding MASSIVELY  I’ve got very thick hair so it’s not noticeable yet, but am wondering where/when it’s going to end!! Literally handfuls every morning!

And this heat is just making everything feel worse, of course. We’re on the south coast so 36+ today, but off to Scotland tomorrow for my daughter’s graduation. Was determined to make it, and think my energy levels should be good enough to enjoy it  Will just be wonderful to be somewhere cooler

Hang in there everyone!

Awake since 4am, not sure if the steroids or the heat. I’m on south coast also and bedroom is like a sauna. Today have second chemo HER2 drugs and Docetaxel - nervous as had allergic reaction last time but have been told will be given anti sickness first. Hope everyone is managing to keep cool - roll on the weekend for cooler weather. I might appreciate the cold cap today

Hey @joc2

I feel the pain. I’m much further North up in Yorkshire so you’ve definitely got the heat much worse than we have and it’s pretty bad here. Been awake since 2am myself, having spent the last two nights on the sofa in the living room as my bedroom-cum-sauna is currently uninhabitable!

I’m on the other taxane, Paclitaxel, and had a reaction on my second dose, which made me a little apprehensive about the next round, but although it was not a pleasant experience, I felt very reassured that the nurses acted quickly and knew exactly what they were doing should it happen again. They slowed down the speed with which they administer it after that and I’ve had another three rounds since without a repeat performance.

Hope all goes well and definitely milk the cold capping today! x

Thank so much. Yes the nurses were amazing. Last time my treatments were over 2 days, today all 4 in one day. Hope you can move back to your bedroom soon - roll on winter!! X

Hope it goes ok for you today @joc2 , high dose steroids+headwave+pre chemo nerves is a tough combo for getting sleep. Hope you can get some rest over the weekend xx

@jillylovesgin have a lovely time in Scotland for your daughters graduation…so pleased you’re managing to go….and enjoy the cooler weather.

I also cold capped but have shed lots of hair…but they did say to expect it. Will persist i think as only 2 more EC to go then see what its like after that.

We are south wales so in the red area for heat. Kids not in school and all just chilling and trying to survive the heat..

Thinking of everyone having treatment this wk in this weather.
