June 2026 chemo starters

Yes I’ve finished last EC 2 weeks ago so had 4 sessions and after the 4th my eyes went crazy!!! Constantly watering and sore and dry all the same time!! It was painful to keep them open!! And only really now calmed down! I use the double action dry eye from optrex which help a lot but I could definitely do with something overnight !! I’ve given up wearing make up !

@loopylea what is your next lot if they are changing it?

Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone has had an ultrasound scan in between chemo and what exactly they can see is it literally size or can they see if cancer cells are active or not?

Hey @linz1314

I had an MRI a couple of weeks ago - about halfway through my chemo regime - and it showed I now have no detectable cancer in the breast.

I’m scheduled for an MRI this week coming (halfway through chemo). I have invasive lobular so maybe they like MRI over ultrasound for them? Ive also not had surgery yet so I think in my case it’s to check chemo is actually doing something (because I think otherwise they would bring surgery forward). Usually they are looking at the size of something at ultrasound /assessing lymph nodes and to assess activity of cancer cells would be looking at biopsy results. Hope it goes well xx

Yeah I’m back at breast clinic in next couple

Of weeks so not mri. Wondering if they can see if active or not but cat seem to figure that bit out

Could you feel your lump at start of treatment?

Yes I had three tumours totalling 36mm which were palpable on manual examination.

Sorry you’re struggling with your eyes.. I’m changing to abraxane ( nab -paclitaxel) with my carboplatin which I’ve already had the last 2 cycles.. next one 25th August so I’m going to be finishing later than originally planned. Hopefully I can get on with it then!! Started 6th June and only had 2 cycles so far! It’s a shame I react really as my side effects have been quite manageable on docetaxel ( with exception to the bradycardia and nausea)

When are you due to finish ?

Well I’ve got 12 weeks coming up! Starting on Tuesday so I’ve got a long way to go! So how many are you having now then? Yeah it’s a shame about the reactions! I am nervous as I hear so many people have reactions! But I guess we don’t know until you try sort of thing! :woman_facepalming:t3:

@mssteel this is great news! How many cycles have you had? I had an ultrasound after my 3rd EC chemo and I have 3 lumps and they have shrunk by half- one more than half so I’m hoping this continues!!! :crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2:

@LittleBitBrave Sorry, this is a little complex! I had a single cycle of EC at the end of April to start my adjuvant chemo regime following a lumpectomy to remove my TNBC tumour, then my treatment was changed to a neo-adjuvant regime in May due to a local recurrence. Up to now I’ve had four cycles of 3 weekly Pembrolizumab/Carboplatin/Paclitaxel and seven weekly cycles of Paclitaxel on its own over the last 11 weeks. Next week is my last Pac infusion then I move to Pembro/EC 3 weekly for 3 cycles starting the week after.

That is amazing news on your progress! I find it really helps to keep you ploughing through when you start to see those results. I hope they keep on coming for you. x

Would anyone like a brow pen? I got the medium brown Brow Aid The brow blueprint and it’s too dark for me. I think it would be best for someone with quite dark brown eyebrows. I can post next week if so x

I’m the same! 12 weeks as I had 6 cycles planned and only done 2 so far. Hopefully they fly by for us now!

Yep hope it goes well my chemo seems to be working as I’m carrying on with the Red Devil

Before I change over xxxcycle 4

How is everyone doing?

I had my first Paclitaxel and carboplatin this week! Was super nervous but went ok felt like I was there forever! Just having some nausea and bloating 2 days later! Trying peppermint tea to see if that helps! Any ideas? Mind you I had awful nausea with EC so this is slightly better!!

How’s everyone else getting on? X

I’m glad it went ok, always good to get the first one of a new regime done and under your belt. Can you speak to your team about upping the anti nausea meds? I think nausea is one of the thing they do have a lot of drugs for and are quite proactive about.

my chemo was cancelled today as I caught some lurgae from my daughter. Pretty gutting as we had organised a lot of appointments that will now fall a few days after chemo when I will be at my foggiest. For those that haven’t had surgery yet have you already met with your surgeon and have a plan?
