Hi
I have just received results from biopsies on tumours and nodes. Cancer is Grade 2 but 11/11 nodes were clear so no chemo or rads-just Tamoxifen for next 5 years.
I’d love to know re side effects please! The main 2 that worry me are weight gain and loss of sex drive but does this happen to everyone?
I’d rather be fore-warned so let me have it girls!
Thanks & Happy Christmas everyone!

What i do and know many of the ppl here suffer from is sweats at night, you are warm one min, frpzen the next, i would love a good nights sleep.
Thats about all apart from the extreme tiredness but you learn too cope.
Hoe all goes well for you.

Hi
I saw my Oncologist yesterday prior to Radiotheraphy planning having had surgery WLE and Axillary Node Sampling at the end of November.
She told me my tumour was Grade 2 ER/PR positive with no lymph node involvement.
I was given a prescription for Tamoxifen with a view to changing to Arimidex in two years time. I took my first tablet yesterday and wait hoping there are no drastic side effects but she did reassure me that if there were then they would change me over sooner rather than later. I am 59 and had dreadful hot flushes when going through the change and don’t fancy repeating the excercise.
Next step is to have my Radiotherapy planning at the beginning of January. Hopefully all will go smoothly.
Good luck to you all. Merry Christmas
Liz
Thanks for the advice girls. It seems to affect everyone differently, Will just have to wait and see. Is there anyting you have to avoid while being on it? Certain food, alcohol, body lotions etc???

Oh come on !!! - yes avoid the lotions and potions but please…alcohol !!!
There has to be a life after diagnosis and alcohol and caffeine still feature in my life, the small print on Tamoxifen does say to avoid them but what the heck - I’ve got this far without that advice. But I do suffer from very hot, hot, sweats and chills!
I’ve tempted fate over the years by riding a motorbike, taking the pill, having children, sunbathing topless, taking HRT, smoking for a short time and drinking quite a bit of wine over the years… (Oh well, that must be why I got BC - I don’t think so)… my cousin hasn’t done any of the above and still got the same diagnosis !
Everything in moderation , and a little bit of what you fancy does you good as my grandma used to say !
Best wishes with whatever you decide to do

small print…avoid alcohol…dagnammit missed that one…am off to find my leaflet lol! My onc banned me from alcohol all the way through treatment and gave me the go ahead to drink again in august…id only been bloomin ‘dry’ since the december lol…and I thought being pregnant was bad with all the thou shalt nots…thats nowt compared to treatment lol…of which i keep reminding my pregnant mates lol.
Me…I was the same…took the pill…had kids…breast fed…oh hang on…isnt that supposed to reduce your risk lol…ahhh someone forgot to tell these over zealous cells thats whats supposed to happen lol.
Now the question is…just how much is ‘moderation’ and how do you define a ‘little bit’ my doc still cant give me a decent answer to that one lol
I’ve had to relearn my alcohol tolerance levels - we have always had a ‘continental’ approach to wine with meals but had cut down to one glass instead of half a bottle when I started the Tamoxifen.
We had our usual boozy Christmas day - unfortunately my lips started failing to respond to normal speech patterns after far less than usual so had to stop rather sooner than anticipated!
Happy New (reduced alcohol) Year
