Just been told I have invasive ductal cancer grade 1. Really worried about having the operation .don’t think it’s quiet sunk in yet.

First of all, welcome to the forum, even though it’s not what you’d have envisaged.
Do you have an idea what’s proposed for you yet?
All of us here have been through it & we do come out the other side.
It is a shock getting diagnosed, but it does feel better once your treatment plan is in place & you know where you’re going with it.
Do come back & chat or vent for support whenever you need to.

I go to see a surgeon on Wednesday to see what can be done been told a lumpectomy to remove the cancer. Then possible radio therapy.
I did not have a lump or anything was picked up on my routine mammogram.
Hi Norn, sorry you find yourself here in the club none of us wanted to join. It really is horrid at first when you get your diagnosis and you’re waiting for tests and treatment plans. It will get easier once your treatment plan is in place and then you can join the treatment threads to chat with others going through the same. I don’t think it ever really sinks in properly, I was diagnosed back in March 2017 and it still feels a bit surreal! Sending hugs. Xx
H Norn…snap! Diagnosed 2 weeks ago, grade 1. Mine wasn’t picked up on mammogram or ultrasound either, only biopsy. I am waiting for my op as we speak. Keep visiting here please…this site has helped me no end. It won’t sink in for a while…but I promise, like everyone else says here it does get better. X

I am doing ok slowly I have my moments . I have my surgery date for 17th July I am off on holiday next week for weeks before the lumpectomy is done . Not looking g forward to it at all. But will be glad when it is over .
You sure have a full few weeks planned . You enjoy yourself . Yes i am trying to be positive as well. Just want it done with now . I think I felt a bit more relieved after I seen the surgeon and got the dates ect. I am suppose to be going to a wedding two weeks after my op but not sure it’s a four hours drive and overnight stay . I will see how I am.feeling when the time comes xx

Yeah i was told to expect to be off work 8 weeks. 2 weeks for the wound to heal them radiotherapy for 15 days approximate.i will have to see how I get on. Went to see the radiotherapy room today was great to see and ask questions before hand
Hi Norn and everyone, good to meet you. I’m grade 1 too, invasive ductal, oestrogen positive, no node involvement. As you can tell, I’ve had my op and waiting for radiotherapy now. Good you went to see the room Norn, I didn’t know you could do that.
