Hi all, I’m so scared - I’ve just been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in the spine and liver. Can anyone give me some hope of a future with my husband and 8 year old child?

I’m very sorry to read your news and understand the fear and sadness at receiving a secondaries diagnosis. Many of us on the secondaries forums have been here quite a while. There are chemotherapies and treatments that help us live longer than would have been the case a few years ago. X
Hi Crafty. I just wanted to say that I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and am thinking of you. I have only just started to post on the forum but have taken great encouragement from all of the positive and inspiring stories on here for some time. I too think that having a treatment plan helps. My son was 7 when I was diagnosed with primary breast cancer, 11 when I had my first recurrence and is now 13. I’m presently having treatment for an enlarged lymph node but I’m well and most importantly I’m still here! And he’s absolutely fine. I do hope that your treatment goes well. Take care. Steph xxxx
Hi Crafty. I’m glad that your treatment is underway and you are ok so far. I am a Mum too and like you my biggest worry is for him, but he is also my main motivation to battle on. He was 7 when I first had my diagnosis and I remember the sleepless nights worrying I wouldn’t see him through primary school. He’s now 13, happily settled in secondary school and doing really, really well. We are so proud of him. I know that the future is uncertain for all of us, but I try to focus on the here and now and not what might but hasn’t happened. I am sending you lots of positive thoughts and hoping your treatment works really well for you. You take care . Love Steph xxx
Hello. I was diagnosed with bc in January 2012 I lymph node grade 2 very hormone positive great prognosis. Got MRI for pain in my back which we knew about and was not cancer related and it showed an incidental finding of mets. Got told on Tuesday. I have a four year old boy. My world has fallen to pieces. I see nothing but grief and emptiness can’t look at my boy without crying … My husband is in a state. Don’t know where to turn or what to do. Full body scans next week. Needing help so sad. X
Hi Flower. I was so sad to read your post, I think that we can all identify with how you feel. I can only echo what all of the other Ladies have said - you are not on your own. I have a teenage son and my thoughts are always for him, but he keeps me strong and determined to battle on. I had a recurrence in my skin in 2012 and am now having chemo for an enlarged lymph node. After two cycles it has resolved so the treatments can and do work. If I hit a low point I read the inspiring stories on this site and they really help. I will be sending you lots of positive thoughts when you have your scans. Do take care and I’m very happy to answer any questions. Look after yourself. Lots of love xxxxxx
Hi Crafty. I’m so pleased to hear that you are feeling stronger and that there has been an improvement in your mobility. I wish you well with your second course of treatment . Take care. Sending you lots of love xxxx
