just been told i have breast cancer iam new to the forum

Hi Carlisle,
Sorry to hear you are joining the club, but there’s loads of support here from all of us who are either at the stage you’re at, further down the road in treatment, or out the other side.
The early days of diagnosis are such a turmoil as the shock & initial uncertainty can be hard to deal with, but it does get better once you know what you’re dealing with & your treatment plan is in place.
For information, do use reputable sites like this one, Macmillan, NHS Choices or Cancer reaserch uk, as general googling of your diagnosis, can just lead to a whole load of unnecessary anxiety at this stage which you don’t need.
Do come & chat or vent whenever you need to.

Bless you, guess you are in a state of shock? What do you need from the forum? Do you have questions ? DO NOT Google as it is too depressing! I’m on my last chemo, so onto radiotherapy next. I’m 70, and had a grade three , stage two ductal tumour removed  a couple of months ago. My treatment has been quite straightforward as ductal tumours are easy to treat. Do you know what you have? The success rates are excellent. All the staff I have met on this journey have been the most highly trained, professional and respectful people I could wish to care for me. I wish you the same. There are loads of informative leaflets on this site which will help you understand what you may have to deal with. Hopefully you have someone with you on your appointments? Two pairs of ears are better than one. Wishing you the best. X

Welcome to the forum, please come back and have a chat when you feel up to it, plenty of support here from ladies who know just how you are feeling , we are all at various stages and will be able to answer all your questions between us xx

hi

I was told on Friday so I am literally feeling your pain.

If you fancy buddying up as we bumble thru this journey it would be good.

I know I will be looking for lots of advice from those that have gone before as I start chemo and radiotherapy

Not a club I wanted to be in - but you dont always get to choose

take care all

Lesley

I was told Friday afternoon. Feels very lonely and rather scary despite the docs and nurses saying that it’s treatable. MRI scan weds to see if it is in other side and to try to work out exactly how big it is as there was a discrepancy between mammo and ultrasound. Having to move house this week/next week too! I believe surgery scheduled for beginning of August just waiting for letter.

Early days of diagnosis are horrible your head is in turmoil, but strange as this might sound it gets better as time goes on x as Annie said the medical professionals are excellent and you will receive the best treatment tailored just for you x take care x

Sorry I’ve posted a reply on my own name But please look on peedles and I have repliedxx

Yeah, me too.  Sucks doesn’t it?

I also have just been told I have grade 3 breast cancer. :womansad: not much fun as my husband works away in an other country. I’m having to stay with inlaws so feel quite along here. :frowning:

Welcome to the forum ladies .Sorry you have had to join us but there is lots of advice and support available here from people who really understand as we’ve been there /are going through it ourselves .Having cancer can be a very lonely experience even when you have good family and friends supporting you so must be especially hard for you Coco to have to cope with your husband working away .Is he able to get any time off to come home and give you a bit of support ?

That’s really good Coco . It does help to have your other half for support, even if just for first week.

Ladies

I just wanted to echo Jill’s post, you are in very good company here we will get you through it all, come on here whenever you need to and there will always be someone here to help and support you xxx

I find out on Friday that I have Grade 3 breast cancer and am booked for a sentinel lobe biopsy on Thursday following an MRI scan the previous day. My surgeon has also ordered a CAT scan although during ultrasound the lymph nodes looked OK. After that I‘ll be having neoadjuvant chemotherapy for a few months to shrink the large tumour and then a lumpectomy. The team at the hospital were very reassuring that this can be beaten and they have made me feel optimistic about the future - will just be glad when I‘ve had the sentinel lobe biopsy and CAT scan results. This whole website is so helpful and there are some very supportive women on these forums. Thank you all.

Welcome to the forum Choirgirl & glad you found us. If you haven’t already, do look at the ‘going through treatment’ board, where you will be able to chat with others at your stage if treatment.
Do come & chat whenever you need to.
