Hi Poppet,
Sorry to hear you have had to join us. I’m sure you will get lots of supportive messages from others on this site. You can also pick up alot of info from reading the different threads.
What op are you having? Which hospital?
Waiting for treatment and then results is in many ways the worse part.
Best Wishes
Misha

Hi Poppet
Sorry you’ve had to join us here, the club with crap joining conditions, but it is a great sources of advice and support.
You will get used to the lingo but do ask if there’s something you don’t understand.
It’s good that your op is so soon. After that you will get the full treatment plan and know exactly what you are dealing with. My only advice would be not to read too far ahead, just the threads on what you are currently dealing with, as it can get a bit bewildering whilst you are trying to get your head around your diagnosis - it is such a rollercoaster.
Good luck, and ask anything, someone will always help or advise you.

Hi Poppet
Welcome to the Breast Cancer Care discussion forums. I wondered if you may find BCC’s resource pack helpful, it has been designed for those newly diagnosed. If you would like a copy just follow the link below:
breastcancercare.org.uk//content.php?page_id=7514
If you would like to talk about your diagnosis and feel you need to talk to someone in confidence then please give the helpline a call, the staff here are all either breast care nurses or people who have personal experience of breast care issues and are happy to just lend a listening ear and can offer valuable advice and support if neeeded. The number to call is 0808 800 6000 the lines open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm and Saturdays 9am - 2pm.
I hope this is of some help to you.
Kind regards
Lucy
Thank you for your advice kinder, Just off now for my pre op test.
Thanx Poppet
Hi just had my pre op test for tuesday. Has anyone got any tips to stop my stomach from being in this knoted state i know i should be eating but feel so sick.
best wishes Poppet
Hi Poppet
That knot will probably be there a while yet, the waiting is always the worst. Can I try to reassure you that the op is not too bad at all. I felt no pain at all, the drains were removed after just 3 days. Radiotherapy was no bad either, just a lot of trips to the hospital.
I think the fear of the unknown makes our stomachs churn, have you tried relaxation tapes. Please drink plenty whilst you are not eating, please try soup. You don’t want to end up unwell for the op! (God I sound like my mum!).
Take care and good luck
Hi Poppet
I was dx with Grade 2 lobular cancer 3 and a half years ago and live in Whitley Bay, not far from you in the great scheme of things.
It is a hugely nerve wracking time, but just face every day as it comes individually, and deal with everything separately. I used to have huge panic attacks if I thought too far ahead.
All my best wishes to you.
Julie
Thanks for the advice its nice to know that i am not on my own.
Best wishes

Hi poppet,Really sorry you had to come onto this site, yes the knots are going to be there awhile,
On the build upto my WLe and lymphs opp,I kept so busy the house looked like a new pin, pitty it didn’t stay that way.
Like some of the ladies on here have said the opp isn’t that bad,I was in 36hrs,was eating 3hrs after opp,and only took painkillers
for a few days, was driving also after 3days,mind you that was because as i came out OH went in hosp for a week,He will do anything not to have to look after me,
No only joking.the area was quite bruised but that reduced very quickly, the only thing I would suggest is the painkillers I had was Co Codamol and did I suffer with constipaton which to tell you the truth was worse than the opperation,so plenty of fruit and fibre also drink plenty of water as not only does it help the constipation it also gets rid of the blue dye in your system.
I was one of the lucky ones lump was only 6mm and clear lymphs so treatment consists of 15 radiotherapy and arimidex for 5yrs,so looking forward to the menapause again NOT.Like CB it was alot of trips for rads but more of a incovenience really, maybe a bit more tired than normal. I’m going to Manchesters Christie Hospital for them and the staff are really nice,Wish you the best of resultsxxxxxx Oh and get somethng to eat you will need the energy to recover xxxxx
Hi feel sort of calm today with all the good advice i went out and done normal stuff
