Just Diagnosed with Invasive ductal carcinoma grade 3

Hy there fellow breast cancer sufferers… I was diagnosed yesterday with grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma which measures 3cm  x4cm… I feel quite dazed at the moment and I feel anxious about my survival as I do not know the stage yet. I’m going yo gave chemotherapy for 4 1/2 months before a mastectomy with a reconstruction, I hope. Does anyone have any guidance or experiences to share with a newbie… My emotions are up and down and all I keep thinking about is my loved ones. Thank you GIGI x:smileysad:

Hello Gigi, sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma on 01/10/15 and had a mastectomy and full node clearance on 05/11/15. My lump was initially graded as 2 but once it had been removed the pathologist decided it was more like a 3, the lump was just under 4cm as well once they got it out and measured it properly. I also had some lymph nodes that tested positive so will be having 6 cycles of chemo followed by rads. I haven’t been told any official staging or percentages, and if I’m honest I don’t rally want to know as I think we’re all different, I just want to get on with the treatment.

Having up and down emotions is completely normal but it will get easier once you start to know a bit more about what is going on and once you start your treatment. Remember It’s okay to be scared, there are lots of lovely people on this forum who can offer advice and will listen to you, also speak to your family and friends when you need to. Sissy xx

I was diagnosed the first week of November. I am facing chemo, surgery, radiation. Stage 2 with some lymph nodes impacted. I have been doing lots of research, but feel I still don’t know what the actual day of chemo will be or if there is success with a cool cap. First day of chemo will be next Thursday 12/17. Anyone have input on cool cap success or the day of chemo in general.  I am in California, US.  Thanks in advance.

Hi Gigi I’m Anne sorry you’ve had to join us.I had right mastectomy 9th October with node sampling 3/5 nodes positive although showed clear on ultrasound. My lump was 5cm so too big for lumpectomy in relation to my 34c boobs.recovery from op was really good had no need for painkillers.Had op on a Friday and drain out on the Monday so I think you’ll be fine ducky.I had my first of 6 chemo 25th November and no bad side effects it’s doable. When chemo is finished I will be having node clearance and radiotherapy but not sure in what order. My hair is just starting to shed but ready with wigs on standby.I know exactly how you are feeling it never leaves your mind we cry and we can’t sleep we feel every emotion possible but please feel reassured it gets better once treatment starts and we are curable.Try not to worry Gigi your breast team will sort it for you they know their stuff. You will get lots of support from the ladies on this site as well ok chin up girl xxx.
