i started my first of 12 cycles of chemo on Tuesday last, 11 more to go over 6 ish months. Had Epirubicin first then will have another after 4 cycles. Am I lulled into a false sense of security as it is now 6 days on and so far so good, does it creep up on you and hit you went you aren’t looking, anyone know? am I just hoping or what.Does it get worse the more cycles you have? please let me know as everyone is different but there might be someone the same as me ??? Jo

Hi Jo,
You’ve hit the nail on the head “everyone’s different” so if you’re OK then that’s great! You may get tireder as time goes on as this tends to be cumulative. I was OK through chemo as well (3 x FEC and 3 x Taxotere)

Hi: I had Epi-CMF last year, starting 28 May finishing 28 Nov. I did not get sick or have mouth ulcers or any of the other horrors you hear about, we all react differently. The taste buds went for about five days after the Epi and alcohol tasted vile - could only drink gin and champagne - not together! I got very tired towards the end but that was OK. Had time off for good behaviour before the rads, started 5 Jan for 15 zaps, even that was OK. My Onc said it was all to do with my affirmative attitude - asked if this a euphemism for bloody minded!

Hi Jo,
I started on the 25th of Sept with the same(Epirubicin). I was very poorly and sick for 5 days after and was also wanting to know if it gets worse the more you have. Taste buds went to shot and didn’t eat very much either. Hair started coming out on Thurs so did what was needed and shaved the lot off. Don’t think I could of coped with the heart ache of seeing it fall out every day. Anyway got my 2nd dose on Friday so feeling apprehensive now as I know I’m going to be ill again next week.

hi gaye01 i had 3 fec 2 tax like you i was really sick and had to go back to unit for drip second one wasnt to bad but still sick by the time they sorted anti sickness id stopped make sure you tell them in unit they will change your anti sickness no need for us to suffer im fin now op on sat hope the rest of your treatment goes ok its not easy but u will cope gd luck laura x

will let you know. Surgery was 23 September and today for the very first time I feel almost human - feels like such a shame to then go straight to chemo but as soon as it starts it will be countdown to it ending… Rhonz
