Just want to be a friendly ear!!

Hello every one, I was diagnosed with breast cancer on Dec 16th, i think that day will stay in my memory for ever! I had been to a breast clinic several times over the years with cysts but this time it was not to be. I had a biopsy done on the same day and was found to have cancer in my breast and at least one lymph node. I think my cries could be heard all over York! I had wide local incision and lymph node clearance on Jan 4th and that weeks waiting was probably the very worst part. I came out of the op feeling fine and went back to work two weeks later. Apart from this damn seroma i feel really well i am being drained once a week and it is just uncomfortable not painful. My surgeon did a fantastic job and you can see no scar on my breast as he went in around the nipple and it has just blended in! The cancer was only found in the one lymph node that we already knew about . I start ec chemo on Feb 11th and it scares me to death. I am a really positive person and have dealt with all this so far in high spirits. I just really want to say that although when you are diagnosed you feel like your world has come to an end it is not necessarily so but would love to be in touch with anyone at same stage as me

Three years ago I was where you are now… and I was scared! A diagnosis of BC does many things: undermines confidence, and makes you ‘deaf’. You are so thrown by the diagnosis that you can’t think straight. I simply want to offer a` friendly hand and say, there IS light at the end of the tunnel.

Keep strong.

Sorry you’ve got to join us on the forum, but it’s a helpful, supportive place to be.
I’m half way through chemo so a bit ahead of you. Can I suggest you start a thread something like 'starting chemo in Feb - anyone at the same stage? I’m sure you’ll find others to journey along with.

Good luck. Stella
