You probably know that I got fed up of my sooo grey hair and turned it pinky/orange for a couple of days (accidentally). Well I’m curious. My head hair is now very grey, but, my pubic hair has come back very dark. Why couldn’t it have been the other way round?
Just another thought, why do we start to lose hair from the top down. If they put chemo in your foot would we los it from the bottom up. I still had to defuzz my legs after 8 FEC.
Sad isn’t it when I’ve nothing better to wonder about.
The hair on my head is growing back v.slowy but surely. However, the blo**y hairs on my legs are growing with avengance!!! Blooming things, its so unfair! I’ve had to shave my legs AGAIN today, and I’m quite sure I only shaved them a couple of days ago. My eyebrows have all but vanished, even though I switched from Epi to CMF weeks ago! And my eyelashes are so fragile I daren’t wear mascara for fear of snapping them!
Me and my boyfriend have got a £10 bet on what colour my hair will grow back! Even though I am only 35, and before chemo my hair was v.dark brown, I am utterly convinced it will grow back grey. However, simon firmly believes it is coming back dark brown. We shall see!!! I don’t expect either of us to be paying out anytime soon though, as it coming back v.slowly!
Its a real pain. I loved the fact i was completely bald (well apart from the head thing) while on epi…had nothing to do in the bath which took some getting used to…jump in…get wet…get out…long gone were the several hours in the bath lol. On the cmf…well it all came back with a vengence. The hair on my swede started to come through as a very fine whiteish colour…but as its got longer, now got 2 inches or so…which after 4 months aint bad…its got darker…and is now more or less the same colour as it was before it all fell out. Its weird the way it works…hmmm the human body…strange creature it is
Hi Marylyn, i have hardly any grey hairs on my head, and i have very dark hair, (not had to have chemo) but since my early thirties, and i am now 44 my pubes and leg hairs have been grey! mind you, the hair on top of the head has gone a tad thinner since the onset of tamoxifen!
You made me chuckle, the things we think about after chemo, I’m sure it un-hinges us somehow!
I too have to shave my 1 armpit and legs just as much as before chemo, but head hair is growing soooo slowww. It’s also quite salt and peppery, though it prob was already as I have dyed it for 10 yrs before!
It is thin in places too and just started arimidex and 1 of the side affects is thinning of the hair! Oh how un fair.
Getting my 1cm head hair dyed this thurs. Going for something bright and artificial, maybe orange or a tinny bronze. Well I thought if people are going to stare, they may as well have something colourful to stare at, and brighten up their day!
Disappointed that it is still so short as was hoping not to have to wear a wig when I return to work in 2 wks time but looks like it may still be on the cards. My head is too fat to have such short hair, I’m not elfin like Kylie! Mind you, I am dieting now and have lost 1/2 stone in 2 wks, it’s been quite easy, just cut out wine and eaten more fruit, just shows you, wine is liquid cream cakes, but I digress!
Hi
I have all but lost my hair - now look remarkably like a witch - very sad. Am wondering what to do about the long strands that are left. The sensible thing to do would be shave it all off. However, I like bandanas and have been able to wear them to the local shops for a few messages. I pull out what is left of my hair and wear it down the side of my face and it looks a bit straggly but not too bad. If I shave it all off I couldn’t do this but when I take off my bandana my ‘hair’ looks absolutely hideous - it reminds me of my old 89 year old grandad before he passed away and I am only 37 - any suggestions - shave the top and leave what is left of the fringe and sides - Oh bad hair days take on a new dimension when on chemo!!
As for my other body hair - it has thinned out considerably but not quite a brazilian just yet!!
On the positve side wore my wig to a family gathering and discovered afterwards that an aunt and two cousins I had talked to half and hour didn’t know it was a wig - so that has given me confidence in public.

I kept a few long strands of hair at the front and sides all the way through chemo although I was completely bald elsewhere. Like you I used to pull them out when wearing a hat or scarf and they really looked quite pretty. I never shaved my head - just let it all fall out naturally. I finally had my long strands cut off after the rest of my hair started to come back.

My head hair is growing very slowly too - I’ve dyed it myself a couple of times with a water colour as it’s coming back a mixture of black and white - not nice at all. I’ve been on Aromasin - same mode of action as Arimidex - for a couple of months now and so far haven’t noticed any hair thinning - but of course that could happen later.
It is sickening when the hair we don’t want comes back so strongly. I had a little beard for a couple of weeks but used some Boots Facial Hair remover - saw it mentioned on this site - and that’s gone now.
