Well, I answered my own question! Rang the helpline, and they advised calling BCN tomorrow to see if I need a blood test to check my platelets

@lmack95 I hope you are looked after well and feeling better soon. Let us know how you go xx

I got bruising for the first few cycles but platelets were ok. It did settle as I went on. Hopefully you will be the same x

I got out around 4pm and they had absolutely forgotten about me. Got antibiotics for an infection/possibly UTI and they wrote down bilious colic?! Ultrasound still to be done. The Dr said may be gallstones. And apparently I have a small hernia?! X

Hi not sure if helpful but I have a 1.5 year old snot bag. I read somewhere giving saline solution when snotty helps reduce risk of passing it on (your kids would have to take it). And my partner always disinfected the toddler after nursery. I avoided meeting anyone apart when outside. Still had quite a few colds and had to take a tonne of antibiotics as prevention for chest infection but made it through

She even had chickenpox a month before getting the vaccine :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

Good hygiene,.drink plenty and ask them to clean hands and faces before they can hug you.

And stay positive that your body can take on things. I was lucky that my bloods always showed immune system was fine so it is possible X wishing you all the luck and hope this is over as quickly as possible x

Oh @dilly that looks nasty. Hope it settles down for you and that your platelets are fine. Does this shit show ever end?

First Kadcyla done today! Shall see what side effects head my way! :crossed_fingers:t2:

But if you haven’t had it yet, pre warning for your first one, they did it over an hour and a half period (it will be 30 mins normally) and then had an hour and a half for observations to make sure i didnt have a reaction to it. So took much longer than I expected (also didnt help the pharmacy took 2 hours to send up the drug, so was in the chair for 5 hours!)

Hi all, I was diagnosed with hormone positive and HER2 positive breast cancer back in October. I’ve completed chemo (4 EC and 4 Docetaxel) and am 4 weeks post surgery (lumpectomy and 7 nodes). I had 5 cycles of Phesgo prior to surgery but due to residuals I’ve been moved on to Kadcyla. First cycle is on Tuesday.

Its been really useful to read about other peoples’ experiences so far.

Not sur eif someone will mention it further down but my sister suggested trying to take magnesium (she’s a GP) cause there’s some indication it can be preventative of migraine (which my headache felt like). It helped a lot when I took it afterwards but hoping it’ll help preventative as well but we’ll see!

@Jaygo in the end they thought I had a UTI (I think it was actually leukocytes from a cyst that’s still bothering me but whatever) and they sent me home with antibiotics. Two days later I spoke to my nurse during Zoladex injection and she got worried about the bruising. Turns out they hadn’t looked at my thrombocytes and I had really really low markers….. but two days later fine again. Anyway that’s something to keep an eye on as it’ll likely happen again and I have a fairly physical job coming up :face_with_crossed_out_eyes: but at least I didn’t just imagine feeling rubbish!

Does anyone else feel like their life has become and endless slog of appointments and worrying about health? I am already a person that can feel everything in their body and people don’t believe me (e.g. I felt baby flutters really really early, my milk came in super super early, I can feel my blood sugar levels to an abnormal extent . List goes on. Sometimes I wonder if my body’s just supercharged and that’s what caused the cancer?! )

I honestly take my hat off to anyone who’s chronically ill or was it before this cause at least I have a potential end date but this is my personal form of hell:neutral_face:

Just had call with my oncologist and I’ll be starting ā€œas soon as possibleā€ apparently - just need to wait for local team to get in touch about when. I’m having 15 cycles of Kadcyla because I only ended up with 3 of Phesgo before surgery and they want 18 in total.

It’s great to have other people experiences here to know what to possibly expect!

Oooh that’s interesting! I only had 3 Phesgo too, but only getting 14 Kadcyla

Boo, I’ve got oral thrush! Luckily I’ve got a bottle of Nystatin on standby after I also got it on Docetaxel.

I am 5 days since my first Kadcyla and still got a headache, its not extremely painful, still just feels like I had a couple too many wines the day before. Had a little bit of blood when I went to the loo today, but thats it so far ā€œtouching woodā€.

The oral thrush was a bit of a sharp reminder that I am still on chemo!
