Kadcyla

My consultant wants me to try Kadcyla if we can get the funding before the CDF changes.

This will be my third attempt at chemo. Does anyone have any advice or experience of this drug? I have read a lot of the documentation, but have not found anyone that has experienced it yet.

Best wishes to all,

Hi Pen/Mrs Merc

i have just bumped up two existing threads for Kadcyla. There are a few ladies on it so maybe you can share with them, or just read through the thread to get some knowledge? When I have my 3 weekly Herceptin and Perjeta there is a lady who has her Kadcyla so I usually chat to her. She has been on it for over a year now and looks great. Her only comment is she feels very tired the day after so tends to sleep that day, otherwise she has no side effects and bloods are always good.

Hi Pen,

live had 3 cycles of Kadcyla so far. I was told most people tolerate it pretty well, keep working, etc. it’s defo easier than FEC and taxol, but has bn harder than I expected, although each round seems to be a bit easier. I’ve had liver secondaries for 8 yrs, with no side effects except for the treatment. Now have mets in peritoneum & ovaries and I’m experiencing pain for the first time, which is taking some getting used to. It’s still mostly only at the level that I need paracetamol, but it’s just a constant reminder. I’m just hoping it’s hurting cos the Kadcyla’s working!!

main side effects are headaches, fatigue, nausea and pain at the tumour site. I work part time and do voluntary work etc so life is pretty full-on. I’ve had to scale back a bit.

I hope they got your application in in time. It’s meant to be a pretty effective treatment. Let us know how you get on
