Lactose free hormone therapy medication

I am lactose intolerant and react badly to the smallest amount of lactose.

I had surgery a week ago and meet the oncologist next Wednesday 14th December.  Since I am oestrogen receptor positive I am expecting to be recommended to take Tamoxifen or similar.

Does anyone know of a lactose free version of Tamoxifen or similar, please?

Hi Pilatesmargaret

I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your medication and lactose intolerance. I have moved your post to our Ask Our Nurses board as our nurses may be able to help you in finding medication that does not contain lactose, and they will respond as soon as they can.

In the meantime you can always call our helpline on 0808 800 6000 who will be able to talk you through any questions you might have and offer a friendly ear. The opening hours are below.

Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

Late opening Wednesday, 9am-7pm

Saturday, 9am-1pm

Best wishes,

Lucy

Hi I am trying to avoid that too & could not see any in TEVA tamoxifen’s listed ingredients. Luckily it’s one of the cheaper ones, so stocked by Boots & other chemists. Funny they put that in when so many BC ladies are actively trying to avoid dairy & sugar. If there are any other sneaky chemical names for it that you want me to check, just list them & I’d be happy to do so. x
