Hi everyone!
I’m new to the forum. I had my urgent 2ww breast clinic appointment this past Saturday. The ultrasound showed a large cyst with walls of thickened tissue around the cyst. The doctor decided to drain the cyst and if the thickening appeared to go down then she wouldn’t perform a biopsy. But after the draining she said she needed to do a core needle biopsy. Since then my breast has been very bruised and a hard lump is still in my breast. Has anyone experienced similar? I’m feeling very anxious as I have a family history of breast cancer and waiting for results is nerve wracking.

Hi aurorasky, I had bruising after my biopsies for over a week so think that’s fairly normal? Also waiting for results here so just wanted to reply and offer a hand hold.

Hi I think biopsies usually cause bruising. I had bruising lasting at least two weeks. The worry whilst waiting is always the worst, just try to find anything that will distract you.

Hi
The extent of bruising can vary on location and technique. My biopsy was outer quadrant, the bruise was as big as the palm of my hand, very red/purple. Strangely not very sore. It was still noticeable 6 weeks later (albeit faded to a subtle yellow) when I went to surgery, and I had to ask for my blood clotting to be checked…because it had taken so long to go! But it turned out fine and it eventually disappeared.

Thank you all for the reassurance, it’s helped me to know I’m not alone. Waiting is definitely the hardest part!
The breast clinic rang yesterday to let me know the multidisciplinary team are meeting this afternoon to go over my results and then they will ring me to set up an appointment to come back in and go over everything.
The bruising and lump are still present, but I’m trying to keep my mind as busy as possible.
Update- I have a follow up appointment at the breast clinic later this week to go over the results.
