Well done Jillian

Forgot to mention in earlier post, along with rads & tax, i also have a year of herceptin - so will be looking for advice/tips I’ve no doubt !

When do your rads starts? I have planning appt for mine on 19th feb, then treatment starts on 21st Feb. As far as I know I’m having 16 sessions, but onc is confirming this tomorrow

Hi Margaret,
I am not sure Margaret, I have not had a planning date as yet, Oncologist seemed surprised I had not heard anything, so I am hoping to hear something soon. I have rads, herceptin for a year and tamoxifen, got to have a CAT scan as I have a liver and kidney problem so they want to check all ok after chemo. I will keep in touch and we can swap tips and advice. Again good luck for tommorow will be thinking of you.

Hi Jill

Have to say I had to push for date for rads - hadn’t heard a thing either.

I pressed my BN to sort out dates for me as I was worried they were going to clash with school holidays. My local health board don’t do the rads so I am having to stay away from home Mon - Fri while I have treatment as nearest treatment is over 100 miles away.

Youngest daughter doesn’t want me to go lol - OH is looking forward to the break haha (though he may not be so keen after 4 weeks of looking after a 9 yr old single handed) !

Hi Margaret,
Gosh and I thought I was bad, having a hour and a half drive each way every day. Glad you told me that BN sorted it out, think I will have a word with mine in the morning. as just want to get it done. Your daughter will miss you loads Margaret you will be willing the weekend to come, let OH pamper you when you get home, if hes not too exhausted!! Keep in touch

Hi Jillian

Well that’s it - FEC 100% complete - and heading for rads !

Onc confirmed have to have 20 sessions not 16 - so will be away from home for 4 weeks not 3 grrrr

But have just booked a wee break to the Lakes during youngest daughters school hols in April, which fortunately coincides with the end of my rads and the start of my tax - so that will give us something to look forward to!

My BN decided to put the frighteners on me today lol - I told her that I had signed up to do the Ben Nevis Challenge for BCC. She asked me when it was so I said ‘Oh it’s not till October this year’. Her reply was - ‘but aren’t you having taxotere after your rads?’. So i said ‘yea, but it will be finished by June’ - her response was…‘and you think you will be able to climb a 4000ft mountain by October???’

OMG I so hope I can do it - my sponsors have been great so far, and pledged over £600 quid - I can’t let them down - hubby’s coming too, if all else fails he’ll have to carry me haha

hope you’re keeping well
take care

Hi Margaret,
Well Done You on completing the FEC you have done really well. Shame its gonna be 4 and not 3 weeks but give your OH more time to get aquainted with the household appliances, mine is now best of friends with the Dyson! Did not know it existed before this!
I admire you signing up to do the Ben Nevis Challenge and I hope all goes well, you sound like a very gutsy lady so I am sure you will do it… My best freind has signed up to walk the Great Wall of China in April in aid of breast cancer, she had a fundraising night last Sat and raised £1000.00, she has to raise the sponsership money of £2000, and with raffles etc she is not far off. Rather her than me at the moment, Im having trouble getting out of the bed!!
I have just had a call from the hospital to go and have a CAT scan this afternoon, I have a liver and kidney problem so they are checking that the chemo has not changed anything, fingers crossed. Was hoping not to go out today in this awful wind, my wig cant stand up to this!

Hope your side effects are minimal Margaret, Speak again soon.
Love
