LD Flap problems

Hi, I’ve already posted something similar further down. In November I had my nipple reconstruction & the dog ear of skin from my LD flap reconstruction removed from my back. The nipple’ s healing well, but the wound on my back had become infected & split right open; it was really deep & about 2" long.

It is painful, trying to sleep is a nightmare. It isn’t infected anymore, but it is still deep & I still have to get it cleaned, packed & dressed twice a week. This has been going on since the 1st week in December.

Has anyone been through this type of thing? How long did it last before it was healed? I feel pretty rotten, haven’t worn a bra for almost a month & would like a good night’s sleep.

Thanks

Sorry to hear you are going through this and although I had have this operation quite recently I haven’t had these problems. You must be feeling so miserable and uncomfy in bed. After I had my op I used a V shaped pillow to sleep on, I was sort of propped up and it definitely took the pressure off the scars on my back. I still resort to it sometimes when I can’t get comfy. Maybe you are already using one, but if not it is worth buying or borrowing one to see if it helps. At least if you got some sleep you can deal with the other problems a bit easier. Hope you feel better soon. Take care

My surgery on my back opened up on 7th Dec, I’m still getting it dressed etc twice a week & it’s still painful: trying to sleep at night is difficult. Has anyone else had this happen & if so, how long can I expect it to go on for?

Are they measuring the wound, and what are they packing it with? There is a school of thought that sometime packing can disturb the wound, and also depends on how it is packed. Sometimes nurses can be over zealous with it!! If it is clean, will heal, unsure of time, however, needs to heal from inside to out. keep going, I know it is horrible, I had a wound that required packing, however, was the implant causing problems, and that was removed.
