LD Flap reconstruction recovery

Hi Everyone.

I had a Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy on 13/09 and mastectomy and immediate LD Flap reconstruction on 26/09 so I’m feeling a tad battered although improving slowly.
I have heard about LD Flap tidying up surgery but can find very little about this anywhere…can anyone share their experience post initial surgery?
I’m curious because my reconstructed breast is still very very red, I have a pocket of fluid (seroma) on my new breast but also I have a strange sticky out bit on my back called a Dog Ear - that’s what it looks like apparently!

Hi Denifletch

I’m glad to hear you’re improving slowly.

Some of our volunteers have had an LD flap reconstruction. If you’d like to speak to any of them, you can email someonelikeme@breastcancercare.org.uk with you name and number and we’ll get in touch to arrange this for you.

Or if you’d prefer to email any of the volunteers directly, then Catriona and Sarah would be happy to share their experiences over email.

All the best

Emily from Breast Cancer Care
