LD reconstruction post op infection and implant removal

Hi there,

Just feeling a little sorry for myself this morning and wondering if anyone out there has been through a similar thing as me?

I had a bilateral mx in 2012 and an LD recon with implants- which went fine and I recovered really well. My surgeon used permanent expander implants and both ports were left in. I found them quite uncomfortable (they kept catching on my rib cage) and eventually asked for them to be removed this year.

I had the op in February which should have been quite straightforward but I developed post op cellulitis in my left breast which turned into sepsis. I ended up in hospital for a week on IV antibiotics and had to have an emergency op to have the left implant removed. I was really devastated as I had put up with the ports for so as long as I wanted to avoid further surgery. I had another op last week to have a permanent implant put back in the left breast. The op went well and I’m recovering well at home. So I guess I should be thankful for that but right now I’m feeling pretty sore, swollen and miserable. Oleander :frowning:
