I had an LD recon two weeks ago. Instead of doing a skin graft where the nipple has been removed they have used a purse stitch to pull it closed. It is smaller than my breast was and i will need a reduction on the other side down the line.
I got the dressings of yesterday and saw it for the first time, it is really puckered and pulled together must admit i got quite upset.
Has anyone else had it done in this way and if so has it smoothed out.

I had LD recon in Nov.2007 and had small circle of skin from my back. Unfortunately the lab were unsure if my skin had any c cells as there was not enough to check so my surgeon re-excised the nipple area and took a circle of skin for testing. That meant the breast skin had to be drawn up to refit and it did look a bit puckered, but now it is resolving. I’m sure it will improve and when you have the nipple reconstructed it will look much better. (My skin was OK by the way). Talk to the surgeon or BC nurse they should be able to help. Good luck
