Hi I’m a 69 year old lady terrified I’ve got breast cancer. Two days ago the side of my left breast started to itch. It got so bad I took off my bra but it didn’t really help. Initially I scratched it and got a huge red mark but that was because of me. There’s no swelling or redness, just this terrible terrible itch in just one breast. I went to the doctors this morning and he prescribed Betnovate but the itch is worse tonight so I’m posting on here to see if anyone can help me with advise on this. I’m sure I’ve got IBC. I’ve never had itchy breasts before and it can’t be my laundry powder or soap because it’s only one breast. I know it’s only been two days but the worry is making me feel really ill and I’ve totally lost my appetite. Thank you if you can offer any help.

Welcome to the forum and you’ve come to a goood place to find help and support. I’m afraid I can’t help you specifically because your symptoms aren’t something I’ve had, but I’m sure someone will be along soon who can help.
One day probably isn’t enough to see if the betnovate works - assuming it is eczema or something similar, but I can fully appreciate your worry.
Did your doctor examine your breasts or just look at them?
If you are still worried, then you can and should go back, and you can ask to be referred to a breast clinic.
In the meantime we have a golden rule on here - DON’T GOOGLE - you will find out of date, wrong-headed and even downright dangerous stuff out there which will only make you more worried.
Hopefully you will soon find the itch goes away and it is all a false alarm - we like that kind of news.

yes it is a bit early for the cream to work. If it were me i would make an appointment for as early as you can get next week. If over the weekend the itch goes away you can cancel it, but if it is still bad go along and ask for a referal to the breast clinic.
the other thing you can do is ring the helpline. they are brilliant at symptoms and might re-assure you.
