You could try posting in the Ask the Nurses section. Generally even things that are not recommended as a supplement are ok to eat and drink. There are some exceptions to the rule like grapefruit juice with Tamoxifen and Amlodipine which I am taking for high blood pressure . The leaflets which come with medications tell you if there’s something you must avoid in your diet .Turmeric doesn’t go well with some chemo drugs but the Nurses may know if it’s ok to eat in the diet . As @irenko has said a Pharmacist may be able to help you with that.
I’m taking my turmeric as a shot and there’s a very small amount in the shot as compared with the tablets and capsules I’ve tried but I seem to be getting some benefit so I’ll stick with those for now. Xx .
It’s funny you say this. I moved onto Oxybutynin from Fezolinetant (Veoza) due to costs of private prescriptions/ consultations/pharmacy fees. I had it for 6 months and took nearly all hot flushes away). The Oxybutynin worked really well for a few months, then I changed from Letrozole to Exemestane. Hot flushes limited to night time, although it has affected my sleep quite badly. But had none in the day. I’m now 4 months on Exemestane and the day time ones are creeping back.
I’m sure I heard on the BCN speakers live with an oncologist that the hormone therapy can build up in your body and having a few(4-6) break can help reduce the build up and lessen side effects. This way you can stay on the treatment longer, however there isn’t any research out there to say how having many treatment breaks affects the overall success of the treatment. I’m sure it is something they are looking into.
I am having a call with my team in a couple of weeks so I am going to mention another treatment break and see that they say. I had a 6 week break stopping Letrozole moving to Exemestane early this year.
Give your team a call and see if this may be an option for you. Or maybe try Oxybutynin?
Elinzanetant is similar to Fezolinetant and has been approved by MHRA, now waiting on NICE to see if the NHS can have it. It was trialled on breast cancer patients and is said to improve hot flushes and sleep.
Hi I’m
Also on letrozole and recently came off of it because of stomach issues.my oncologist said to take a break for 2 weeks and we would see if the break helped my ailments to improve . It did ! I really didn’t want to start a new medicine and deal with the side effects . Have heard that some honey a day would help with inflammations . Praying for all
