I’ve been on Letrozole for 18 months post bi-lateral mastecomy, and 8 rds of CMF. Diagnosed w/invasive BC, also have Brac 1 gene. Presently 60 yrs old, and since this journey began I’ve gone from a very healthy, active woman who only took EsterC and Multi Vitamin, to taking daily meds.
Presently on Letrozole 2.5 (just recently learned there are different brands), have lymphedema in my arm (Dr’s surprised as I had only breast nodes removed. Also have l a abdominal swelling of fluids on my m right side. (Dr’s have not explainations on that.) I do go to P/t for swelling which seems to help. Have vaginal bleeding (have not had period since age 40) after/during workouts, long vigorous walks (solution was a vaginal cream, after 12 months, no change, now wear mini pads) Blood pressure slowly rising. Went from BP110/70 to 145/85. I know not high but according to all I’ve read pre hypertension. In the last 3 months chronic UTI.(been on antibotics 3x) Along with severe skeletal pain (I take magnesium 250 mg)
Finally put all together after reading side effects of Letrozole, and all of my issues are listed. Went to my Onco to discuss a solution. After much pushing by me, she agreed to pull me off, well for two weeks.
Three days post, my arm/abdomial swelling greatly reduced. No muscle aches, no bleeding.
Wondering if others have similar journey or if there are alternatives?
