Hi, i started on tamoxfin January 2023. Then on 28.10.2024. Changed to letrozole , brand accord. Just about managing with the side effects. Brand of letrozole changed 01.11.2025, my mood has changed so much, i get really angry/emotional not sure if this is the medication or the fact that my family have not been there for me throughout my cancer journey. They are never there and consistantly leave me out. This has been happening for years. Is there anybody else out there that has the same problem as me ? Managed to get the gp to change my prescription back to accord so hopefully things may change.
Hi Claire.S,
Thank you for your post.
It sounds like you have been experiencing a difficult time with your family in the last few years and have not felt supported following your diagnosis and breast cancer treatment. It is natural to feel upset and emotional about this.
It is difficult to say whether the change in brand of letrozole is the reason why you have found yourself getting angry recently. Some people say they notice a change in the side effects they experience if they take letrozole made by a different manufacturer. Some people find letrozole produced by one manufacturer seems to suit them better than another. It is good to hear your GP has changed your prescription back to the one that you were managing on.
A common side effect of the medication is that people can feel low or depressed. It can be difficult to know whether this is because of the medication or other reasons such as menopausal symptoms or dealing with the diagnosis of cancer. Adapting to life after treatment can be difficult and often the need for information and support continues and it sounds like you are feeling this. Coping with the shock of a diagnosis, treatment and side effects, and worries about recurrence can make it difficult to adjust to everyday life again.
Along with change of your medication brand do speak to your GP or hospital team how you are feeling emotionally. If your side effects do not improve once you are back on the brand that suits you best, it may be helpful to make an appointment to talk through how you are feeling. We often hear that it can be a struggle mentally when you have little support and can lead to feeling of isolation and loneliness so talking it through and getting help is important.
