Hello Minnie
We are barraged with information from everywhere. I like to be informed but need to keep a level view.
Thank you for your experience. Hope all goes well with you.
Hi
I have taken Letrozole for 2.5 years & haven’t suffered with any joint pain but do have some vaginal thrush, which I now believe is actually vaginal dryness. Apparently the 2 can be confused! I have been using a non-oestrogen lubricant YES for a couple of months which was recommended by my Oncologist, & this has greatly improved matters.
As someone else has said, people talk about their bad experiences & not when things are OK. You can only give it a try. Good luck
Thank you. I have the talk tomorrow.
Hi, I have been on Letrozol for 3 months and like you was worried about side effects. But I’ve been absolutely fine so far. My cholesterol did go up but I’m being careful with my diet and avoiding saturated fats and so far so good. All the best xx
I’ve been on Letrozole since my first round of chemo and oncologist said that I’ll be on it for 5 years. It’s been almost 2 years. The side effects are much like chemo. Digestive issues, big time, lightheaded and dizzy, nauseous often, and sometimes I can’t eat much. Minoxidil gave me my hair back, that’s about the only thing that’s been good. My hair was down to my waist, and I had to have it cut to my shoulders. The chemo hair was brittle and course, and completely unruly. My breast cancer was her2 and I was told that it’s an aggressive cancer. I have a blood test every 3 months to see if there’s any cancer cells in my blood. So far so good. I wish you the best!
Thank you for your reply. All the best to you too
Sorry you’re going through so much and thank you for your reply. All the very best.
Hello
I have been taking Letrozole for 12 months and side effects have calmed down. …for me the only real downside is the weight gain. I’d be interested to know how others have coped.
Thank you for your reply also.
Everything helps to give a clearer idea of how everyone is coping with this drug.
Hi Nutmeg
I started taking letrozole 6 weeks ago and I have to say, I had also read up on it and was terrified at the thought, but it’s been fine , week one I had acid reflux for a few days and an upset stomach but that settled down within days and it’s honestly fine , in fact if this is the worst of it , I’ll take the five years and say job done !
Try not to read too much, I only looked up my symptoms after they started to see if they were related to the letrozole or something else. You got this ! We’ve been through worse. Good luck x
Thank you. Great advice x
Hi Nutmeg,
It’s my two month review for Letrozole tomorrow. My knees are painful going up stairs and I can’t sleep with knees Pak and restless legs. I believe it will wear off. There is bound to be something with oestrogen being turn off. Some have talked about virginal dryness which I haven’t noticed.
There are other options if any adverse symptoms don’t settle so it’s well worth trying and see how you feel. Good luck, hope it all goes well x
