Hello Yvonne
I think if you Google BI-RADS (breast information - reporting and data system) you should get some more info to help. I know the UK has another classification system but there is not a lot online about it, however the two seem to be very similar.
I think the U refers to ultrasound and I assume R refers to mammogram but I am not 100% sure.
The number is the classification given for each.
Maybe one of the moderators can give you the full info?
Hope that helps.
Hi Yvonne if you post this query in the ask the nurses section they will probably be able to answer your query ,
I had a phone call yesterday after my routine screen last week , recalled next monday , why did they phone and not write ! its made me worry more , I want to go in sooner I cant wait till monday feeking like this
Hi Julie ,a few days can feel like a lifetime with such anxiety hanging over you.The majority of women recalled after routine screening do not have cancer but they do have to do further tests sometimes to clarify what they are looking at.There a number of other explanations for changes spotted on mammogram .Good luck .Jill.
Ps they probably rang you with appointment for clinic to give you more notice ,I have often received letters for appointments the day before but have had a phone call from hospital earlier in week confirming appointment .
There is a good chance it will be nothing to worry about.Fingers crossed for you .
